A few questions on these. Do they work well? Would it be better/cheaper just to go with air cooled hoods? Any one with info on this would be greatly appreciated. I saw some threads on other sites but they were old. I don't trust any of them any how!!lol Thanks

![]() | hey bro, ive seen you round my journal, gotta hit u up with sum rep but will do for sure...with cool tubes im going to build my own i found the best thread on how to build one but it was ages back when i was Hemp_Hero2003 and i got booted so icant remember where it was or who wrote it but i really wana find it and yeh ive heard you can keep your plants like 3-4 inches away from the light it it works properly, then again ti all depends on the power of your light and which kind u use (MH prduces more heat then a HPS, duno y but it does haha), hope this helps, though my karma doesnt show tha tim helpful haha but i try my best ![]() peace HH

![]() ![]() | I was looking into cool tubes myself. I got scared off . Soo darnd much heat you live or die by the fan.Q: If the fan were to stop, How long till plants get hurt...or worse stuff starts on fire? I felt the answer to that question determined how frequently I'd need to check my plants. I love my garden I hang out there all the time but I'd like to spend a weekend camping this summer. starting to ramble give it some thought tho and sucess in what ever you choose, let us know s~l

![]() | I'll build my new setup in about a month, but I allready bougth my cool tube and a Aeroflo fan for it... I was a bit afraid too for the heat in case of fan problem, but I will buy some kind of breaker that if the temp of the tube goes over x degrees (I'll have to test it for real measure) everything shutdown.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If your fan is not drawing a lot of current, you could use a dedicated breaker to supply 1 duplex box, feeding ballast and fan. Circuit trips, both units shut down. Make sure you go with a 15 amp breaker though, otherwise you defeat the purpose. I just put 4 dedicated breakers into my grow space, 1 duplex box to each. There was already 1 spare dedicated circuit there so I have plenty of outlets until I add A/C and CO2 in my next upgrade. For what it's worth, I have a buddy who is an electrical inspector. He says that while it is legal for me to wire up my own breakers and boxes, the insurance company will try to weasel if I have a fire. Mind you that will be the least of my problems if it starts in the garden; still and all, saving a few bucks in the short term may cause major grief in the long run. Makes me wonder about the insurance implications for a legal medical grow-op; I'll put a legal consult on my garden's 'to do' list .Airedog
