Hi i just need to know about fans for my area, its gonna be about 45 inch high, 21" wide and 17" deep. I have a bathroom fan for exhaust, im not too sure what speed or power it is, but i think it'l do the trick. What i needed to know is whether i need to get a couple of computer fans, or if i can just have a passive intake. I suppose i need to know the strength of the fan but i hope someone can help out a bit anyway. ps. Im running the exhaust thru at least 2 carbon filter sheets if this makes a difference... ![]() | You can probly get away with a passive intake. It really depends on how much light you are going to have in that space. You might want to make it a bit higher to accomodate the height of pots and for space for the lights and reflector. That is going to require 14 inches anyways which will leave you with only 30 inches for the plants. It can be done, but more space would be better.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey, thanks for the reply. Im going to try get a hold of a 250 watt HPS and a flouro. If i cant get a 250 i might end up getting 1 or 2 150 watters. Im gonna take your advise and maybe bring the box roof up another 10" or so. Its in a closet, im hopefully going to make a grow journal so you might see it in action Thanks again, Schmoke

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well i set up a cord into the fan today to see how strong it is (i think it said 20 watt on the fan). I was actually quite impressed, it held a piece of paper to it easy and has quite a good airflow thru the back. Passive intake seems ok for this fan, but i've decided its too loud, so i may have to switch to computer fans. Can someone tell me how many comp fans ill need for my area?? Maybe 2 exhaust 1 intake? it has 2 go thru a carbon filter remember, and im getting a 150 watt HPS, and maybe a flouro too. Schmoke

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well i got the light today, all i need before its finished is to determine which fans ill be using. I got a fan speed controller but blew it up . So if having the fan inline is still too loud (which it probably will be) Im going with computer fans by the looks. Can someone please tell me how many computer fans ill need? remember its going thru carbon filters, its kinda urgent, i need to get this thing finished .Thanks, Schmoke (sorry 4 being impatient)

![]() | In my experience computer fans can be quite noisy as well. I have a 2 x 4 x 4 grow area and it took 2 120mm fans and 2 80mm fans to keep it cool enough for a 250 watt hps. Too noisy so I ditched the hps for some evl type lights and went with a passive intake and exhaust which was good enough. Just ordered an elicent inline fan with an appropriate controller cos I want to increase the light. What kind of fan and controller did you get?

It had a switch and a knob to increase/decrease speed. (this wasnt a dimmer, it was build for use with fans.) My friend just wired it completely wrong and almost blew his hands off... He shoulda, that switch was expensive! Schmoke

![]() | Sorry to bud in, but I just started using my carbon scrubber today. My room is 4x4x6 and I just have a passive intake bringing in outdoor fresh air which comes in at floor level, and a carbon scrubber hanging from the roof. Today was the first day I really smelled strong budha so I turned it on. I just have a 4" mushroom fan connected to some piping and the scrubber (ie: it draws air in through the scrubber and out the fan) and I have noticed that it is also quite lowed. I put it on a foam pad and that quited it down a lot, but as soon as there is back pressure on that fan, you can really hear her. It is quite loud, but if your outside the room you can only hear a slight hummm if you put your ear up by the wall. So not too bad. I'm not sure what strength it is, as it doesn't have a cfm rating. If noise isn't a factor for you, then these mushroom fans are cheap and easy to put in place and work.

Hey man, Well today we bought 2 120mm computer fans, and one 90mm. 90 for intake and the other 2 so it has enuf power 2 get thru the filters. I think it should work fine really. They are really quiet and strong. Schmoke

Everything is set to go apart from the intake, I really want a passive and i think it will be fine for 2 120mm computer fans. For the size of my area and the 150w hps ect, how many and what size holes should i have around the bottom of my box?? I would use the 90mm fan but i dont have any more rechargers or 12 volt adapters. So im just gonna go passive and if it doesnt work out ill find another recharger. Schmoke
