Construction ( 3 pictures ) The boards at the bottom i put in for reinforcement.. rather cheap but should get the job done I need to build walls around my grow site. The problem is.. its only 20 inch's wide height is 8' and 42" long... I need to insulate it without limiting the width to much. My light is 8 inch's wide... What i want to do is build a box all the way around limiting it to 2 inch's on each side.. I think i have a difficult task ahead of me ![]() Anyone here experienced with tempered glass, and how to incorp it into a grow box?? Im VERY unexperienced here... ( what i mean is does ne1 know of good vent systems using this ) Lighting - ( 2 pictures ) Is it possible for me to take this light apart... its a 430 w hid from sun systems 2... Its rather big and hard to use My ladddies ( 2 pics ) Only 2 here for sake of keepin post small... 7 Plants total. on the pictures with black i put that in so you could focus on my arm... My fore finger is touching the dirt with my arm extended straight up.. Last edited by rick; 10-20-2004 at 06:47 PM..

... What are you going to do with the glass? Blowers are one of the best vent systems around. Yes, you can take any light syestem apart and remove and locate componants. Prefferably with the ballast outside the room to prevent heat build-up. Just mark all the wires and reconnect with the correct wire. And I would ditch that hermie or female before it ruins your crop... JG

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd like to suggest getting some mylar up on the walls of your space. Seal out that insulation I can only imaging what it would be like on bud, also keep stuff off the ballast as that they can become extremy hot, also, try to keep it out of your grow space and out of contact with flamable matereals. Best o Wishes! IWIC

First things first... Tnx for the feedback james and iwic I wanted to build a box first but im not real sure how to... I wanted to incorp foam in but... my room is rather small so idk if thats possible (mylar or some kind of reflective was on the list allready) I planed on putting a carbon exaust threw, and james you caught me... i was going with a blower originaly... <<< What are you going to do with the glass? If i can take apart the light the ballast will def move out... i have 2 430's maybe i can move the other 1 in if i get things going right <<< I'd like to suggest getting some mylar up on the walls of your space. Should i go wood piece foam wood piece then some type of reflective?? that right there is at least 3" on each side putting me around 14 inch's.. oh and this baby is going 2 go through a good cleaning (thelight) before it goes in to use.. if i put it in there with stuff on it i might as well set it by some gas... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How about placing a bit insulation between those frames and covering it with some bright white panel board,it's cheap and should only come out a quarter inch from the studs. I see your space is quite small and you may find this annoying later on as it will limit you unless you use it wisely which is why I suggest you read the grow bible it will guide you through a variety of diffrent ways to grow the superb herb. I think once you have some experience sog will likely be the best use of the space Best o Wishes! IWIC

the bible come on now iv done that 4 times in the last 6 months... Maybe a quick scan wouldnt hurt? Sog would be a strech though... i havent had much information on it, but it does seem the best for space... On a side note i plan on goin hydro... So your saying a piece of wood for the outside then insulation then white panal board??? Or do you think i should skip the first piece of wood? As of this moment this is my biggest problem And trust me Im allready feeling the tight space, puttin those boards down was a pain in the ass, had to use my ninja skills HAHA! ![]()

Still no response about walling ideas, I need a walling guru (is that a word?) <<<How about placing a bit insulation between those frames and covering it with some bright white panel board, it’s cheap and should only come out a quarter inch from the studs.>>> I’m liking this more and more now, I would still like foam for it’s soundproofing, unless it seems unnecessary. I'll take the light apart and clean it tomorrow, as time prevents it today. Kid

![]() ![]() | About the walls... Why would you want it sound proof? -because of fan noise and such? I mean how quiet do you want it? because I think whatever you cover the inside walls with might do the trick as far as soundproofing. I think paneling would be good to cover the studs or maybe cut the pieces to fit between the studs to keep what liitle space you have. It looks like wallboard/drywall on the otherside so you would probably have to glue your pieces in between the studs if you were going that route. That space looks alot like mine as far as dimensions but, you probably don't want to do what I did with my walls. I covered them with cardboard then mylar on top... -real easy but probably a real fire hazzard! ![]()
