![]() | High ya fellas! Boy, don't ya just hate to loose a post? I had this one all done up yesterday when I had to re-boot my system. I lost the whole thing!!! DAMN!!! ![]() ![]() Ah well....here goes for a second time....Now, I may need a lil bit of help. You see....I want to build a special "grow box thing" that I'd be able to grow..umm perhaps 2 plants in. It has to be compact, easy to move around, easy to hide and able to grow the best bud in the world ![]() Here is what I have for materials... - 2x4's - drywall - plywood - hinges - duct tape - screws - 400 watt hps - 150 watt hps - 9 single four foot flow's - 1 double four foot flow - 1 quadrouple fout foot flow (one that holds 4 bulbs) - extention cord - 2 computer fans - 1 fan around 10" or so - power bar - tin foil & or white paint I think that's about it I'll explain what I wanna do, and if anyone sees where I could improve, or has any suggestions, please pass em along![]() I'm planning to build this box thing out of drywall with a 2x4 frame. I'm going to use screws instead of nails so I am able to put it togeather and take it apart with little noise, (plus I may be able to use the materials again once I dismantle it) The size I's gonna be is about 6 square feet on the bottom and about 5 feet tall. (3Lx2Wx5H) I'd like to have all 15 flow's standing vertical in the box on the sides. Each singel light is roughly 4-1/2" wide... so that's about 67-1/2". And are 4" deep. If I had 2 flow's per each foot. If that's the case I'd end up with about 16" of width & 28" length. That sounds like enough room for one plant Unfortunatly it's all the room I can afford at the moment, so It'll have to do. I'll also bend, cut and fit the other lighs in that arn't single bulbs...so no worries there![]() I was thinking about taking the ballast out of each light, then re-mounting them on the out side of the box with a fan blowing on them. This would reduce the heat inside the box. Witch brings me to my next thought... I have this 400watt hps light that will got on top, it the extra 12" of space. It will only take up a few inches because it's ballast will also be mounted out side. I think I'll leave about 4" from the top of the box to the bulb, so all in all it'll take about 6" of the top space. (you guys following er does this sound like I've been trying to get rid of my left over stash?? )I'm also thinking about building the frame with 2x4, but putting the drywall on the inside (with the 2x4 on the outside) to save for extra room.) I'll have to leave the...say top lid off untill the last part in order to be able to work from the inside out. (one of you guys can figure out how many lumins I'll have per square food go'n on if you like) total amound of lumens so far looks to be around hummmmmm. say a 400 watt hps is about 40,000 and a 4' flow is about 5000 x 15 = 75,000 total lumnes around 115,000 (I think) (I'm not sure if I'm going to put the 150 watt hps in or not..but ya can figure it in if you like) You'd be a good one for this CY ![]() For ventalation...I think I'll have various holes though out the bottom of the box for intake. I'll install the exhaust fan at the top (possibly pionting directly out of the top of the box above the hps light) the computer fans will be blowing on the ballast's that are on the outside. I'll have the top of the box on hinges, so I'll be able to open it with ease and tend to my beauty. The inside will be painted white, or lined with tinfoil, and I'll have all cracks covered over with duct tape on the outside. Boy, I think that's about it. I'll start construction tonight and let you guys know how it's goen. Most lickly I'll modify as I go, so I'll keep ya-all posted. Please feel free to suggest any thing. Hummmmm now where did thoes blueprints go! ![]() mr g ![]()

....I would use cube/rectangle shaped planters in there to minimize dead space at the floor and maximize soil volume per plant. Mount the lights a foot above the floor so the planters can extend to the walls. Hell, buy some cedar planking and build custom boxes. Those plants are gonna need every bit of soil to keep up with that light setup. Assuming its a soil grow, of course. Sounds wonderful. Smokin

![]() | All very good suggestions from you all Unfortunatly, I only have access to the metarials that I had mentioned, so I'll just have to "bite the bullet" on that. I have also ran into another problem about the wattage that I require for this project (I only can use up to 660 watts) I have a post in the lighing forum on that. So the idea about having a big ass light at the top, and real reflective sides does appeal to me now. Perhaps when I'm able to find more juice, I'll stick the flow's in![]() Sooooo small change of plans... ![]() I think I may go with the 400watt hps along with a the lil 150watt hps at the top. (550watts) I will take the size down to say.....2'x2'x5' I'll give an update asap ![]() thanks again, mr g

![]() | Mr.G! How ya been? ![]() Sounds like a plan to me. Strangely enough (or not) those dimensions are exactly those of my new FRIDGE! I am just running into probs on where to put the behemoth without arousing suspicion.Next step...the HPS. Glad to see the creativity flowing! I was contemplating fabricating something similar in my attic/crawlspace until I found the fridge. Stay Green! ![]() E.C.

![]() | Sorry boys.....still no time to start my damn grow-op I know....... I know!!! ASAP but this cat is a busy Mofo if you knowie what I meanie. Them all good ideas guys. And no I didn't buy the stuff to build with yet. That's all the gear I have around that I'm able to use. the 2x1 is a good idea, same with the plywood. If I make it outta plywood, then I can throw it in my truck and move it around like a piece of furnature if need be. I'm still try'n to find some time for it, Please don't give up on me ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yo EC!!!!!!!!! DUDE! you did get a fridge! You little bugger! Take a pic for me P-L-E-A-S-E and ya know you can still email me at mrgreen600@hotmail.com later yah-all ![]() mr g

![]() | Ok my friends.....I know I haven't been a good lil builder latly....but that's all gonna change... ![]() I just bought ANOTHER 400watt hps light. The light is like the type you would find in a warehouse...it has the ballast attached on top and has a aluminum cone shape to cover the bulb. The Bottom is about 16" round with the bulb mounted vertical. Now many of you may wonder why I bought this type...but let me explain ![]() I'm gonna find me a fridge. I'm gonna take the fridge and clean the bugger out, take off all parts that I don't need (for weight reasons) and cut a hole in the top of it. the hole is going to be about 15-3/4" round. My light is going to sit on the edge of the hole so 1/4" of the light is on the lip of the hole. I'll then fasten it to the fridge (I dunno how I'm going to do this yet...) I TELL YOU THE WHEELS ARE TURN'N MAN!!! Having the light mounted on top of the fridge will allow me to have both light and ballast out of the grow area....thus reducing (our enemy)..heat build up! So my light is attached you say...so how am I going to get some fresh air into the joint?? I be cutt'n some more holes!!!!! I was thinking about cutting 1 or 2 holes in the top, next to the light or even on the sides up at the top. This would be to let what ever warm air is in...out and a general exit for air to curculate. As a light deflector I'll put some "ABS" plastic tubing (4") over the hole/s and run it though a few 90 deg angles, to reduce any light from getting in during flowering and dido at the bottom holes. I'll put a coupla computer fan's in each hole to pull fresh air in with. I was thinking about having a 6" regular fan inside to blow on the plant for strength. Perhaps I should put IT as an intake fan?? comments on that would be good I'm not sure how big the fridge is....but CY and I think I'll get about 10k lumens per square foot....(roughly) thanks cy SO that's about it for my fridge idea. Any one wanna give me some pionters on a fridge set up?? Bring em on, I have a while to get it well thought out, my light is gonna take a week or 2 till I get it. thanks boyz, mr g ![]() ps.....someone spell check that **** for me ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() | Is this the type of fridge with a freezer on the side, top, or no freezer. If it has a freezer on the top you could convert that into either a place to start clones. Also a freezer would be a good place to put balasts in seeing how its not connected to the fridge. You could keep the top shelf on the fridge to hang lights off of maybe. Just some half baked ideas Homeless ![]()

![]() | Yo, Mr.G! Yeah, I finally got a fridge. But the sunnavabeach is proving to be quite a PITA. The hinges are FUBAR, and I'm beginning to believe there are too many persons coming and going here to be of any good use. If I had a basement, it might be different. But things being as they are, I think the fridge plan is on hold indefinitely. ALSO... a thought on the over/under models...I was going to mount a MH or HPS directly inside the freezer section. Solves the aforementioned heat prob to some degree (no pun intended...). Then, run either one large or a few smaller hoses out the top, bent down along the length of the beast so no light gets out, and venting is achieved. Oh, well, it was a good idea while it lasted... ![]() ...the closet lives on... Stay Green! ![]() E.C.

![]() | Wonder how much it'd cost to send me your fridge though the mail...... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hee hee... kidd'n ![]() Welp, I was hoping for a fridge with the a single door, then I'd break out the saw and cut the bottom of the freezer out. This would give me the space I need. If I got one with the large door on bottom, and lil door on top, then I'd do the same thing...but just attach both doors togeather. (using a bit of sheet metal and rivits I guess...) I want the light outside of the grow area. I would think a 400 watter in a lil fridge would rase the temps up too much with out some heavey duty ventalation. Plus it takes up lots of room. I figger hav'n the light on top and cutt'n a hole to let it though is a better set up.....(I tink )S2......you said som'm about getting the plastic outa the fridge. DO you mean ALL the plastic around all sides, top, bottom and door...until there is only a thin metal box? (I've never workd on a fridge b4 so...... ) I don't know what I'm gett'n into yet, but DAMN!, I'm gett'n excited! ![]() ![]() thanks guys, mr g
