How much have you spent on Growing?
permalink

I'm thinking about this tonight as I ran out to get more gear for this temporary seedling box. There goes another US$100! I shudder to think about how much I've spent setting up my grow(s). The complete tag is unknowable, but I'm probably in the 2K range. I'm just wondering if I have the stones to deduct it on my taxes under the "hobby" category Gotta love the USA!

So how's about it? What have you spent on your grow?

I've spent $1000CAN easy so far, and will probably be spending at least that again in the next year, new house means new space.

I just look at how much I would be spending if I had to get it the old way . All of a sudden it doesn't seem like as much.

I'm at about $500 I think without counting beans. But I've been itching lately and just spent another $60 bucks on some lighting toys. I can feel a big project coming on that will probably cost me about $125 to $150 when I'm done. That'll put me over the $500 mark

D***!!! What the H*** have you dumped a couple "o' grand on not counting Beans. I've got humidifiers, gages up the yang, pH meters and toys and tools. Mylar on every thing in sight. Fan units. Smoke and CO alarms. A billion cords and power strips. Ground fault interuptors. Timers. Test kits. Mixing bins. I'm running 127,600 lumens now. I was running a home made CO2. I'm not lacking anything I've been wanting (though I'm gonna expand anyway ). But I am one Cheap SOB, and shop my ass of for price. Ahhh Nutes! If your counting those... I'm way up there I guess

Well all I can say is I better harvest a heck of alot.....

I have spent somewhere around????? Uhhhhh, probably close to $1600 to $1800 on everything since I started inside on my first grow.

On my current cab that I bought tonight and am in the process of putting together is a big part of that. I estimate my new cab to be around $1000 complete. Maybe a little more but we'll see. The switchable ballast and 2 bulbs where around $450. The cabinet I bought tonight was almost $200. I am planning on spending $225 on Odor control but haven't actually bought it yet.... Maybe monday. By the time it is all said and done with light proofing and reflective walls that will prolly cost me $50 to $100.

Then my little cloning/seedling maybe a scrog cab has been costly over the days as well.

Then you have to add in all the dirt, nutes, and all the little stuff that seams to add up pretty quick, and all the little experiments we all end up doing continually.....

Way over $2000, the costs are minimal compaired to the pounds and pounds of cannabis I have harvested.

Kinda depends on how you count one extraordinary 1200USD expense.

When we fired up the 400W HPS lamp the first time, we took out the 1949 wiring that was designed to run a clock, a lamp, and a radio. Had to get an electrician in to run a new, grounded circuit.

But even if you justify that by saying we needed to update the electric for the 21st century anyhow, we've still put over $1K into it.

However, the money was not spent, it was invested.

Like everyone's saying, the results are way out of proportion to the expense. I have no idea how much schtuff like our's costs on the black market, even if I knew where to get it. And since we're using serious equipment, we're measuring our harvests in fractions of pounds, not grams.

Oh man. My power bill has been way more than I've spent on lights, soil and nutes.

I fully agree.

I've never sat and figured out how much it's cost us to get to where we are.. or how much it's costing us per harvest. But I know what we're reaping is WAY more valuable than what it's cost us.

Heck.. I'd rather spend my money on a proper growroom than spend it on a Hummer anyday.
(Now if I could only afford a Hummer.. I could build that proper growroom. )

Lighting and construction costs.. $XXXX
Soil and nute costs.. $XXX
Utilities.. $XXX
Being comfortable in the knowledge that for as long as I choose to smoke I now have the knowledge necessary to grow my own.. Well.. as they say.. thats priceless.

Thanks HC.com

and it all adds up......quick......but never one really big outlay all at once.......

It seems every time I pick something up for our hobby it is another $100......

At first I thought no way over $2K.......then I started to add up just some of the high ticket items.......and yep it's well over $2k........

But for now I am done building......and it is just maintaining......recycling my soil is saving me alot more than I thought it would .......so now it is just nute's and light bulbs and power consumption......

in the end ......way cheaper to grow your own......I'm glad I can.......

just a FYI: just one of my pain prescriptions is $487.50 for 60 pills on the first of every month......before I started smoking pot it was double that doseage and cost.....

...and yes that is with health insurance......a word to the wise never allow someone else ......like your employer or Union ........to buy your health insurance for you.........they buy the cheapest policy they can.......and pocket the rest........

2k was the highest option?

Every time I light up a dank cured joint from one of my jars I remember why I spent it all.
