Well im updating my grow room, and i would liek some opinions. Basically i have a 5' X 3' grow area, with the front, sides, and back covered in mylar. I have 2 250w lights, and was kind wondering if u guys think ill lose much light if i dont have a top for the area. Also, if i do get a top for it, im assuming ill need more ventilation, correct? Thanks, TG

Ya, you'll get more heat for sure. Do you have reflectors on your lights? I don't know how high your ceiling would be, or how tall you plan on growing your plants. Up at 8.5' in my room, I don't think that the ceiling helps my light regardless of Mylar etc. I don't bother sheeting it or the top 3 feet of my walls either. They are painted flat white, but even at that, I don't get enough light over the reflectors to worry about from that distance. However, you are really under lit for an area that size. You'll need to stay a little under half that area for optimum lighting on Indica dom strains. A little less yet, for a Sativa dom strain. If you don't have reflectors, I'd definitely take care of that first. If your ceiling is going to be twice the height of your grow or so, I don't really think you'ld benefit at all. In my case. My light would have to travel ouside the reflector, and then upwards 3.5 feet to the ceiling. Then back off of the ceiling and down 3.5' to reach where it started. Most anything you use on your ceiling wont reflect back 100% of the light. The tops of my plants are under the reflector, so that light would have to go at least another 2.5' to 3' to reach a plant surface. Under those circumstances...I'd pass on the ceiling for light. If I could maintain temp. and R/H without one, not only would I not put one on...but I might cut one off the space or cab I was using.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Excellent thanks. I am aware that im pushing it on the lights, which is why im picking up either a 1000 watt to replace all together, or a 400w to add in the mix, but since i prolly wont need them for untill late veg., i figure ill have time. They are super sun agro 270w bulbs, so the total lumens with both lights is about 60,000 IN a 15sq. foot area, thats 4k lumens per sqr foot, so i know im a bit short on light, but with the extra 400watter.... Ill be gtg. Id prolly be okay from just another 250w, but i like to do things right when i do them. TG

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I’m in agreement with Beener,,,, If you have good hoods,,,, there isn’t enough light bouncing from the ceiling to do the plants any good…… I use Refletix,,, and what I put on the ceiling is wasted money other than for atheistic effect (and I’m the only one that sees it)………… You will get a lot more functionality out of one 1k light than all of your other lights put together,,,,,,,,, the one k will push the light a lot deeper than all of the others together…. You might consider using a 250 for clone/veg until they are ready for the 1kw…….. Chief
