One feature of the site is the Search Button. Typing wiring computer fans produces many results. ![]()

![]() | I'm guessing that if they are running on a r/c car battery that they are 12volt. Your r/c car battery charger would run at least 1-2 of them. You could also go to your local electronics store even a wal-mart and look for a 12 volt power pack. There’s adjustable ones that go from 1.5 volts to 12 volts that is universal. All you have to do is cut the wires and connect them to your fan. As always when working with electricity work safe and smart. Check the power pack for the right volts and current type ac/dc and also check the fan to see the max input for the fan before you go wiring things together. If you can get it working I would let it run for 20-60 mins before setting them up in a grow area unattended so you don't go burning something up and catching fire.. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. good-luck.

Any plug-in 110 - 120v class 2 transformer that puts out 12v at between 150 to 400 milliamps will do nicely. 200Ma works well. Get one at your local Fry's or Radio Shack (depending on where you live) or snag the transformer from a dead wireless phone, or intercom, or any similar household device. Check the output of the transformer - it's written on the back of it quite clearly. Remember 12v at 150 to 400 milliamps. Any more isn't a good idea. Might start a fire if the windings smoke up. Even though this an easy project never take wiring lightly - ever. Regards, Landru

![]() ![]() ![]() | Computer fans are nade to cool small metal boxes, not to bring lots of fresh air into a growroom. A bathroom exhaust-type fan is WAY better, cheaper ($12.00) and just as quiet as the equiv. cfm in computer fans (use a rubber gasket), and need no transformer.

![]() ![]() | thanx ganjaguru, ozzhates, buzzmobile, and landru...i will take all advise and run with it....my electrical skills are good i just never messed with such small based electronics(comp. fans) i have already cut the wires and ran them parallel so i could have both fans run off one batt. at a time...but i think im on my way to the store...so thanx for the input... ![]()

Hey! What about just adding a battery charger? The top up Volts are 13.8 usually, so your fans will run well even on long wiring runs, AND, will keep running for an hour or more (mine do 24hrs...) during a power cut.... That's how mine are set up, in my veg box, with minicontrollers. Peasy, and all for the cost of a single 4" fan.

Why not purchase a computer power supply and a fan controller so you can control the speed of the fans, whether it is for intake, exhaust, or both. This is exactly what I am doing. I have three 32 cfm cpu fans for intake and the same for exhaust along with two more moving the air about the cab. All are hooked up to a 350 watt computer power supply with a multi fan controller. The problem with using a plug from a battery charger is when you hook up more than one fan, the fan speed will start to decrease thus lowering your cfm output. Here is an old pic of what I am using.
