i have a barn previously used for pigs. I'd like to take a room in that barn and close it off, insulate and warm up with a space-heater. The plants will be put in 5 gal buckets to grow in. I have a mixture of miracle grow potting soil and pig manure, and my question is, what conditions do I need to start harvesting in two and a half, three months? Thanks for any and all input

![]() | If you planted today, it would still take you 3-4 months to get any bud. If you hd clones, take a couple weeks off. Check out the grow guide if you haven't seen that yet, it answers most questions. Welcome to HC.com. Neo

![]() ![]() | hi gibber - welcome to hc.com! the grow guide on this site should give you a great intro as to what conditions you will need for your new grow barn. i guess something of importance is: what climate do you live in? if you are in, say, the northeast of the usa, it might be too cold coming up for such a grow, especially considering humidity levels, etc. A space heater will only do so much. and does the barn have electrical outlets? That would be necessary, but I assume since you listed the space heater, there's gotta be a place to plug it in. i think it's funny, cuz my friends and i call mj "pigs" - so it's a beautiful thing that where the old pigs once thrived, new ones soon will! but check out that grow guide and do some searches for barn grow threads! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey, Gibber!!! Definately have a read through the Grow Bible....It's a wealth of knowledge, much like the threads on this site....Read, read, read...The best 3 pieces of advice one can recieve....As for the barn, I'd be kinda worried about what nasties may lurk from the days when the pigs roamed How long has it been since it was used for pigs? I'd give it a VERY good cleaning before I put a plant in there. You may also run into mold problems there...test the rh with a barometer before you start your grow. If it's too high, you'll have trouble growing in there...Also, is it heated/ warm enough? If not, you'll need insulation....the list just keeps going....You'll want to read up before you can decide if this environment is suitable for MJ...Good luck!!!![]()

![]() | well if you need to use a space heater you will want it hooked to a thermostat to make sure it stays in a good temp range humidity is good to know but a space heater will effectively dehumidify the space.. which can be good or bad average flowering time is 8-10 weeks.. but you still have to veg for a while first.. you can force flowering early and get smaller plants.. if you planted today you would have to start them on a flowering cycle and end up with some tiny plants if you were aiming for a harvest before xmas.. its possible, but you wouldn't get very much at all

![]() | Gonna take ya at least three months, get the plants vegging as soon as possible if time is a concern (i.e. Get some CFL's and put hte plants under 24 hours of light until you get the room finished and stuff...just throw them in your bedrrom in the corner or something...they are small when vegging anyhow) Then by the time you get your room built, you'll prolly be about ready to flower, put them under the real lights for a week and then flower them out. Good luck mate.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd also be vigilant about bugs, including mites, scale bugs, nematodes, and other baddies that might have taken up residence. A barn is not as tight to the environment as inside your house. If you're not careful you could have some problems. ![]()
