![]() | Hey people....been reading about your grow rooms for a while now,and the time is drawing very near for me to attemp my first indoor grow. I have found a store that sells 430 hps SonTagro setup for $180.00aus,so,at that price,I'm going for two! ![]() I've been trying to work out the lumens required etc,but finding things a lil confusing. My ceiling is almost 9 feet high,do i need to close off some height? Any ideas on the size i should be attempting to make my growroom, with these lights in mind? How many plants you think these lights could handle? Thankyou folks virgo O'shoot!Should this be in growroom/greenhouse construction? If so,feel free to boot it over there hey

I like the idea...My 430 started at 55,000 initial lumens according to the packaging (it was $330 US after shipping) but info Ive read lately tells me the bulb has lost a lot of its efficiency(thanks harrah) and they are not cheap to replace, $60 here. The regular 400HPS bulb last twice as long. Oh well. As far as height goes, the more the better. Thats where the heat will go from the fans you have blowing it away from the bulbs. I came to the conclusion that a 430 is perfect for growing short bushy plants, its too small for real good light penetration, but that lumen total means you can light up a pretty good amount of space, 14 sqf for mine. Try and light up a space long and skinny as opposed to more square as light is emitted off the long end of the bulb. Lamps in line and bulbs perpendicular to the short side. Lets see, my best yield using a single lamp and bag seed yielded (Im extrapolating to a full flower room) around 25 grams per sqf. Good genetics should do wonders for that total, tho. That enough V? I could talk grow room construction for hours since Im a contractor. So take it easy on me, hey? ![]() Smokin

![]() | Good mornin V34. Yep...I think this does belong in the grow room forum...so I will shoot it over there. Let's see if I can shed some light. So....a 400 can cover up to 12 sq.ft..double that and you have a room at least 24 sq.ft. And you have a few extra watts there..so ...I would say....a room of 25-30 sq.ft. would be about right. Lumen wise....those lights put out around 55k lumens. So ya have 110000 lumens into....say 25 sq.ft.....that gives you......over 4400 lumens per sq.ft. Not too shabby, but could be better.!!! And, I'm sure you will add some side lighting...even better numbers !! Your 9 foot ceilings could be a bonus too...plenty of headroom to work with there..( think two tiered system) Or it could be a nice place for the heat from the lights to go up and dissipate somewhat. How many plants? Welll...a lot at first when they are small...but to finish?.....20-25 plants +/-. See how many of yourfinish size pots will fit into a 5 x 5 square,,,keeping in mind that you gotta have room to get in there and work. Try square pots to maximize space. You could also make a two chamber thing and have a veg and a flower room. The possibilities are endless. ( )Well...there ya go...some ballpark figures. Hope this helped a little. Next!.....Cmon....step right up cy ![]()

Thaankya for all that info guyz. ![]() Rav,as your g/room is 14 square feet, could you help me out with the actual measurements please? I am getting confused with this 'squared'........ I have only ever seen one 'live' g/room,and he had that set up in a lil room with a black plastic teepee like thing over it all.Didn't pay much attention either as the plant was wicked and that kept mind and body occupied. ![]() Anyway...these are my roughly taken measurements...... H=8 3/4ft......W=8ft..X..9ft. I'd hate one that i had to crouch down to be in. Cy I'm thinking for my first indoory, just try an get the plants finished from seed to harvest.But....after that...I have always liked the idea of a veg room and flowering room,do you think i have space to do this??and if i put up say, some type of sheeting for makeshift walls....i dont put a 'roof' on this do I??I ask this as im wanting to chain the light and drop as needed. Thanx for that virgo

YikesId run those 430s in line along one wall. Build a bay about chest high that you can look down into, 3 meters long and say 1 meter out from the wall. Use at least 2x2s to stud it out. Panels attached with drawer closers can be in place as doors to the area. I have drywall for walls, but there has been some advice against it. Stew? Oscillating fans sit on the bay lip pointing down in the area for ventilation. I use a clip on fan to cool the bulb, attached to a piece of wood on the wall. Make a similar bay on the short wall for your veg setup and there should be some good room left over for a shelf or desk or whatever. I have found that open top bays like this contain the light just fine, so flowering is not effected. And the floros on 24/0 provide plenty of ambient light. Thats my idea, pretty similar to my setup. Hope it helps Smokin

I've drawn this out rav,and a couple of points are still unclear to me.Really-you must excuse my ignorance in this field-but i'm finding it easier to ask trusted members, as opposed to only the reading and sole decision making. I am not grasping where exactly the doors go.And how these are operated to be able to flower AnD veg? ![]() Also, the chest height bays, are these multi-tiered for growing ladies? So,I would leave the room as it is,with lights set along the long wall, above bays, right along the wall? This is sounding great smokin, getting very 'cited ![]() ChEeRs MaTe

![]() | Stew pretty much hit it right on the head. So..I wont repeat all that Yes you have plenty room for two chambers. The top open for a heat sink is a good idea. It's all sounding good Hey...I just uncapped a jug of blood meal tea that has been sitting for a couple weeks. whew!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to go light some incense! talking to ya later ![]() cy ![]()

Yuk!Try Nagchampa incense Cy,imported from India-easy on the pocket and bewdifuul for smothering yukky odours. OK,at the huge risk of sounding like a complete idiot...How do you veg for 24hrs and,at same time, flower 12/12??? Is this the reason for the doors?Trap light OuT?? OR do I use flo's for the veg chamber? Gawd,AND.......I may have used my prerogative quota, but I may have changed my mind. ![]() Still researching, but a 6oowatter is sounding better, plus one of those adjust-a-reflector??sp.?Anyway...still lookin at that.MH sounding ok too...decisions..decisions.. Cheers people ![]()
