i have recently acquired an extra, small room, with a closet that can be used for whatever i please. ofcourse iwant to grow some killer bud, but have a small dilemna: im not sure how to set it up.
i can only have one 600 watt hps with son agro bulb. i have two options i can either use the closet or the room.
if i decide to use the closet which is only about 9 sqft ill probably have heating problems. However if i decide to use the room, which is about 64 sqft with two windows, i would have to utilize it in such a manner that i could use the one hps and not waste any resources and deal with the odor problem most efficiently since i live in an apartment building. Im leaning towards using the room instead of the closet, but only have one hps and want to grow using the soil method and do not want to consider any hydro or sog or anything else. I want to have atleast 10 plants and would greatly appreciate some feedback on how i should go aobut this little adventure. (For example will i have to build another small room (16 sqft), with a growing area of perhaps 12 sqft inside of the room, to deal with the odor problems (ozone generator) .
thanks for any feedback

OK lets see what we've got here.

If you deside to grow in your closet then your gonna need a fan in there on at all times. Im not that experienced with lighting cuz i have only used florecents, but your light should work. If there is no possible way to get ventalation or fresh air in there then i suggest you do alot of thinking or just use your room to grow.
You really dont want them visible to people or other lights. So your better off building a small room in one of the corners of your big room.
Your room has to be light proof or as light proof as you can get it. Buy 2 small fans to put in the walls of your growroom, one on the bottom to blow the cool air in and one on the top to blow the hot air out (ventilation is very important).
You want to hang your light far enough up so it doesnt burn the plants, if you can feel a good amount of heat when you have your hand under the light for a minute, then you will burn your plants.
Do you know what your soil mix should be? cuz that is important too. JUst ask for the ingredients and me or someone will tell you.
If your planning on growing 10 plants in an apartment building then you deffinatly need to nutralize the smell, cuz your neighbors will most likely get a whiff.

These are just some of my suggestions. But I'll leave the rest up to the pros cuz they know alot more than i do.

Good luck!!!

Just my If you want to grow some killer buds then try using a heat shield more light=more yeild.#

I have 2 400 watt hps fitted with heat sheilds (best gadget yet) & can get the lights wtihin 12 inches of the girls (could go closer but I`m a coward)

Hmm, 10 plants seems like a lot to me, for a 600 watt light and I wouldn’t imagine you could get that many in your closet so it sounds like it’ll need to be the room.
Yes an enclosure within the room would be the best thing, with reflective surfaces inside. This would stop your light from escaping and looking suspicious, it would make the most of the lamp you have and also help contain odours.

I agree that I'd go for the room. Much more results than a smaller "box" and easier to manuver around the grow room area.

The original poster started this in May 2001. Then it was 22 months before it was resurrected by our old friend, mellowbifta. Now after another 30 months it rears its pointy little head again. Let's give this thread a decent burial, shall we?
