Anyone have experience? What are some things that we should plan for prior to starting up that most conventional grows don't require? We will be running two 1000 watt lamps. Thanks for any advice. If anyone has a link to their indoor attic grow that would be appreciated too.

obviously temps will be an issue in the summer, but other than that... what have you guys experienced to be the biggest hurdle to jump that most growers dont need to worry about because they are growing in more ideal situations?

Well, you do have CAMP, but other than that, I can't think of anything (except heat). Northern California is ideal for mj.

not familiar with the term camp? am i better off building a box within the attic to grow inside of? i would imagine this would be easier to vent the heat out of the area, but we originally planned to just grow up there as is... and obviously use a whole shit load of venting to outside the house to keep temps down... also considering cutting a hole in the ceiling of the room below and somehow getting some of the ac up there... any input is great

It probably will be easier, you will need a/c, I lived in the northern U.S. latitudes and I remember how hot my attic got without grow lights. If you are planning a/c then IMHO you should build a box. Unless you plan on using the whole area, it will save you a lot of money.

if you live in an old house, you are gonna battle insects (probably)

attics dont have insulation=drastic temp swing between lights on and off

winter/summer=really hard to use an attic unless you have heat/AC or insulation.

Light leaks can be a problem too.

My friend's attic is old...

Yeah I tend to agree... kind of makes things alot more difficult - we were trying to get started shortly. Would I be able to compensate for the high temps with massive amounts of venting the air out of the attic?

If I built the box then the insulation could be left in the attic, otherwise a portion of it is going to be taken out... light leaks would be avoided with a box as well, and possibly part of the insect problem... the house is relatively old - will look for light leaks later tonight and keep ya posted.

As long as you can get cool air in from somewhere. Circulating hot air only makes hotter air.
