What kinda of computer fan should I be looking for, for exhaust fan in cab? There are soo many out there and I'm curious if there are some that all it takes is sipping and wiring into extension cord. I'm not too familiar with wiring at the moment and not sure what I need to make this as easy as possible.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A pc fan works on DC, so you need a AC to DC transformer, with an output up to 12V (better if its regulable in volts output, so you can adjust fan's RPMs easily). There is the typical sunon, wich works directly at wall plug, but usually sunons are very noisy, but powerfull. It depends of the application what fan to choose. For venting into the cab, and intake, standard 8cm fans works nice. But for exhausting, better choose 12cm fans, wich have a far higher CFM rating. If you need some pressure, then seek for 12cm fans 38mm thick (standard thickess is 25mm). But if you are using a duct after the fan longer that 2ft or with curves, you will need more pressure that a Pc fan can give.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | they sell fans the same size as pc fans, they call them "muffin fans' theyre all over ebay for under $10.00 and they run on 115V AC. here is a picture of one. "I'm not too familiar with wiring at the moment and not sure what I need to make this as easy as possible" the wiring on 115V fans is reciprocal, meaning it can be wired easily, any one lead will go to the hot wire (black wire) and the other lead will go to the neautral (white wire). its almost impossible to wire one wrong, and only minimal knowledge is needed, if you can twist a wire nut and turn a screwdriver you should be all set. There is diagrams and instructions on here if you need them.

![]() | what your gonna want to look for is a 120mm fan with a low db rating (how loud it is) and price i suggest going to newegg.com if your in the states or tigerdirect.ca if your in canada you can mostly find packs of high powder fans for cheap for electrical hookup look around for a cheap computer power supply there everywhere and they arent worth any money so you can probably get one for free that way you have lots of connections for fans and no need for any wiring

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can get adustable adapters form walmart and run your fan on multiple speeds (I think mine have 6 voltages it will run). They are really handy when wiring up fans and are pretty cheap. Also ,when you wire up a computer fan to an ac/dc apdapter, dont worry about mixing up the wires, it will only run when it's wired correctly. If you wire it wrong, nothing blows up, the fan just doesnt turn.
