One week will be just over 60 days flowering for these plants. There are different strains here. Juicy Fruit (tied down in the back) and some unknowns, unsorted mislabeled seeds from a seed bank. I think I will be about 1.5 weeks for the Juicy fruits (i just want to get them out of there, really) and 2.5 weeks for the others, the better looking ones. I'm planning on buying a microscope or something but if anyone wants to give me their two cents on how these girls are looking please do.

how to tell when seeds are ready to harvest?

I grew three autoflowering strains, which were partially harvested when they looked ready - plenty of trichs turning golden. I left just a few buds on the lower branches. I then pollinated them with two male autoflower strains that I had been growing. All three of the plants now have seeds, but what I'm wondering is how I will be able to tell when the seeds are ready to harvest. Do I simply wait until the plants die on their own, or do I take a seed pod every week or so and open it up to take a look at the seed? When I did this last week, the seed was green, pretty hard but still crushable with between my thumb and finger. Will the seeds need to be brown before I harvest them, or if the seeds are still green and I cut down the plants, will the seeds continue to mature? Once pollinated, how long does it take for seeds to mature?

I'd like the best of both worlds - I'd like to be able to smoke the buds and also have viable seeds for my next crop. I've grown girls before, but never with the intent of establishing some seeds, so this is new territory for me.

TIA.

I know Okief.com has some. I was wondering about the other companies. Im sure there cant be just one? 50 dollars for a peice of aluminum is insane.

Thats the only place I could find them.

Ok, I found another one called the honey bee extractor. So the okief version, and honey bee. Honey bee is about 10-15 dollars cheaper. Anyone know of other brands? Wich is the better of the two?

For something thats been around for years I cant believe there arent more people making them.

I'm still a bit of a :newbie: to all of this. So, please be nice... please! ;)

In all of the reading that I have done on the forums that I am a member of, it would seem that the general consensus is that seeds in the smoking bud are about as desireable as a handful of horse flies scrambled in your breakfast eggs! :yikes: Other than the inconvenience of having to pick them out before smoking or running the risk of one of the seeds exploding like a cigarette load :explode:, what's the big deal??? Why are seeds so bad???

Thanks for helping me understand!! :Peace:

When is indoor harvest time?

I have gotten good info on growing indoors as this is my first indoor grow. Now for , hopefully, my last question on this topic. When I change my light cycle to 12/12 for the purpose of bringing my plants to flower, how long should they flower, {Bud}, until they are ready? When I grow outdoors I wait until the specified time stated on the info from wherever you buy your seeds. Usually October up here in N.Y. Usually the seed info also tells you how many days you should let them flower, {50-65 in most strains}. I also use a Radio shack microscope to check the trichomes. Should I wait that long indoors, under lights, and will the microscope be as useful indoors as out? Any input would be appreciated!!!

Opinion on harvest time

Just want to get a general feedback on people's personal opinions for my personal grow. Today is day 60 for my indoor sativas, and my original plan is to cut them at day 84. But since they are bag seed I have no way to tell for 100% when they will be ready other than checking the trichs with a microscope.

Well today I did a quick check and I have noticed that there are about 60-70% cloudy, VERY few amber (personally want as few amber as possible) and the rest are clear. My question is simply how long would you guys suggest I go if they are this ripe thus far. The last time and first time I chopped I used this same bag seed and noticed they really started to fatten up around day 65. Sadly I was also forced to chop early so there was no way for me to gauge what they would of tasted like or smoke if I had gone with my original planning.

The purpose of this question is so that I can get a gauge on when I should flush. I was planning on doing it at day 70 and let them go, but if you all suggest an earlier harvest I may need to move up my dates.

Hi,
I'm not trying to toot my own horn but a couple weeks ago I posted a seed storage primer after extensive research. I posted it in the Garden Admin section under the "we need new how to guides". I didn't get any responses though so I thought I'd post the link in this forum since it appears to belong here.
Maybe when the Mods have had an opportunity to discuss it, they might feel it is worthy of a sticky at the beginning of this thread. The reason I spent so many hours working on it was for one, it interested me and for two, there seems to be a fair amount of confusion on seed storage. I sincerely welcome your thoughts though because I know it isn't perfect and with your feedback, perhaps I can improve it.
