How do I DROP my humidity?

Okay, I'm on day 54 of flowering my big bud and the colas are pretty dense. I use IRB/dutch pot/hempy buckets and don't have a hygrometer. It feels drier in my cab then in my small house but since the weather started cooling it's been feeling noticeably wet and humid(outside the cab) when the light runs. The moisture accumulates everywhere and is nasty, I open the window but it's only getting cooler and cooler outside. I don't have 200 bones to drop on a dehumidifier, and I've been parting my colas and turning up the oscillating fan IN the cab and hoping no mold starts. I've seen some DIY's like..making them out of air conditioner units and refrigerators...anyone know a solid cheap way to bring it down?

Control Your Cannabis Article

If this isn't in the right section, feel free to move, the article does pertain to indoor growing only.

I was reading through some new threads today and found one that had a link to an older article (2000) from Cannabis Culture.

One part I found really interesting --

As a general rule, during the vegetative stage you should keep your plants a little on the drier side as this will restrict cell elongation, creating a shorter noded plant structure capable of creating a dense bud cluster in the floral stage. (Unless of course you are using the high EC method described above, in this case you must not let your soil get too dry because of the increased fertilizer level you will create.) Maintain this level of moisture into the first 14 to 20 days of 12/12 to minimize internode stretch.

As soon as early flowering begins you need to increase soil moisture to a nice evenly moist (not soaked) level to maximize bud expansion. Growing marijuana too dry during this stage will adversely affect your overall yield, as will having too high an EC in the medium.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is lots of good info about EC in there that as I get more experienced would like to get a better handle on. I haven't been following this any time I've grown and always let my soil completely dry out during Veg and Flowering. Does this hold any weight? Similar to any of what you guys do?

well all growers are different in feeding them and it really dephends on ur gardens setup etc ..
im currently growing in Soil under 1000 hps lights with perfect enviroment conditions . im on 3 weeks veg right now in 5gal pots . i feeded them twice since the transplant into 5gal pots with first feeding at 500 ppm , second feeding at 700 ppms and PH at 6.3 . and they look really happy . i was wondering if i can go feed all the way for another week till flower then start giving them water in between. or do u guys suggest not to go over 2 feeds in a row . everytime i feed there is runoff to push out any old nutes

Ok, today is the day. I have my space set up, ducting installed, and my passive intakes are made. Now it's time to fire up my lamp for the first time, and see whether or not my exhaust system can keep my 1000wHPS and my space cool.

I just need to figure out how to get into the hood to install the bulb. I see screw pins on the side of the hood. I just don't want to start twisting and have the glass fall out and shatter.

Anyone have one of these hoods and can tell me how to do this while it's hung in the air?

Thanks in advance

How do I Up my Humidity?

Everything I read says that Humidity should be between 50-60%. My meter reads between 38-41% night-day respectively. Is this affecting my seedling from growing by a significant amount where I should be worried about it; and if so how do I up this humidity in the most simple and effective way without having to invest much if any money at all.

Thanks in advance!

Light blocking air intake vent - 12 hour darkness

Does anyone know of a way to construct an intake air vent that has so many bends or baffles in it that air gets through but light doesn't?
I was thinking of using a cardboard box with cardboard baffles laid out like a maze?
I guess three bends or baffles would be enough make the outside light give up trying to get into my grow closet during the 12 hours of no light. I would spray paint the interior of the box flat black.

Anyone have a better idea?
I can't cut any holes in the walls or floor so I will be venting to and from the room the closet is in.

Hello all! I am going to begin my first indoor grow in the next week or so in a PC case. I was thinking if trying to use LST to maximize yield. I have several questions:

1). I have a shelf in my pc case so I can adjust the height of the plants during growth to prevent stretching but how close can I actually put the little sprouts to the cfls?

2). I have two spectrums of lights....1 for flowering and one for veg BUT I am going to be growing low life seed's automatic blueberry....so my question is, since essentially the plant goes right into flower, what light setup should I use? flowering light or veg lights? should I be running 12/12 since its auto? or should I be pushing the 18/6 to maximize yield?

Any help greatly appreciated!
