So one thing led to another and I ended up giving up on building a wooden grow box for my closet (2 weeks and $80.00 later). I was wondering if there was any way that I could build a makeshift tent in my closet out of panda plastic this time around? I know smell/stench would be an issue but I found these negative ion generator wall plug-ins that look like they'd do the trick. Can anyone give me advice on what direction i should go in?!?!?!?!?!

I am going away and for the safety of my plant i will be bringing them inside. I was wondering if there is anything that i should know in advance that may happen during this type of operation. My indoor set up is nothing special just a bunch of CFLs in a white walled closet. I have Two plants that to me look female, both have been through some shit outside and are pretty hardy plants.

Anything is appreciated.

Margaritta bucket for lowryder 2?

Okay, here's the deal. Earlier this year I saw our local grocery store selling those one-gallon buckets that come with margeritta mix. Add some water, some booze, and you're ready to go. These buckets have a lid (duh) and a pouring spout on the bottom.

I started thinking, that's a great size bucket to grow small plants in! Cut a hole in the lid, use the pouring spout on the bottom for easy drainage, add a couple airstones... what the hell!

I grew one plant in it, but due to circumstances I had to keep it in our crawlspace, which is VERY damp. In fact, it was grown in a garbage can with the mostly on, so it had very little air circulation and lots of humidity. While I got some bud, the plants had a lot of spots on them, and weren't very happy.

So now I'm trying again, and am wondering how much big the root mass gets. Will a one gallon bubble bucket work for LowRyder 2?

My setup: Bucket with a hole in the top for a netti pot filled with rockwool. Using Advanced Nutrients Pro Gro and Pro Bloom. Have two airstones, so they're getting plenty of oxygen. Plants have already sprouted and are growing quickly at about 1/4 strength nutes till I switch it out this weekend. Two 65 watt CFLs. Light is on at least 18 hours a day, but try and give it a break now and then and give it total darkness for six hours or so.

Several questions: Some people say, since they're autoflower, go ahead and give them 24 hours of light. You'll get more bud. Others say, all plants need some darkness to complete the crebs cycle, etc. You'll get more bud. Which is it?

Has anyone every run two grows, one with 24 hour light, one with 18 hours or so? Part of me wants to give them all the light they can handle, but part of me thinks it makes sense that plants need some down time, too, to do the things in darkness that they can't do in light.

Since it doesn't matter whether the plants get 12 or 24 hours of darkness, they'll still bud, does it make any sense to use bloom nutes rather than grow nutes? Typically, I'd start switching to bloom nutes as soon as I see signs of sex, but is this necessary with autoflowers?

I have a total of five 65 watt bulbs at my disposal - will two do, or should I add a couple more? I also have a 400 watt MH unit that I may break out every now and then to give the girls (hoping they're girls) a vacation. Any reason NOT to do this? I'm planning on using the 65 watt bulbs when heat is an issue (like if I have to put the setup in the closet while company's over), but MH when stealth is not an issue.

I'm also thinking of setting up a stealth system using the Secret Jardin grow box like this: DarkRoom 40 16.8" x 16.8" x 48" (http://www.florahydroponics.com/product.aspx?id=2475). However, I'm not sure how the vent system works - what size fan would I buy, and won't that allow lots of light to escape? Is it possible to have shelves in the box and grow two plants at once, one on the floor and one on the shelf, with lights hanging from the top and lights hanging from the shelf? Even CFLs will need some good venting for this setup.

Is there any reason at all not to grow a small pepper plant along with the ladies? I recently sprouted some pequin peppers, and according to wikipedia, the plants only get 1-2 feet high. so they'd probably fit right in with the girls. Or am I getting greedy here, trying to do too much?

Sigh. I must be stoned. I'm rambling. FWIW, I'm an old dude who started smoking again after a good 20 year absence. I bought a few seeds about 18 months ago, and am on my fourth grow. When I decided to start smoking again, I made one purchase and then ordered seeds - I haven't paid for weed since that first purchase. Sure, I'm a lightweight, but I'm growing enough to get by.

Now, can someone please answer whatever questions you can glean from this absurdly long post?

Im wondering when it's too late for repotting a plant that has shown its female within the last 24 hours ? Is it probably too late now ?
In fairness it hasn't been so long since it was put into 1.5 gallon pot but now it's shown to be female i wondered about putting it into 3 gallon .Maybe im best just let it be and grow , it's a known short bush strain Northen Lights,maybe let the 1.5 gallon do it or can i easily transplant as its not so much flowering as only showing its sex ?

Appreciate any thoughts as id need to do this sooner than later if at all.

Ive recently been traveling alot because of my job this makes me leave my flowering plants in the dark for 2 days sometimes 3 days, once every 2 weeks..... so out of 9 weeks of flower... they get an additional 6 days of darkness.

Ive noticed that there really isnt any problem with this;) I think the buds actually grow in the dark...they are bigger after the 2 day dark period....They resume the normal 12/12 lighting after the darkness

Anyone else have thoughts about this??:afro:

Hello all.

The more I try to simply "get it right", let alone get consistent results, the more I realize, for me, good record keeping is vital.

I have looked both online and offline for something to act as a physical record of historical data such as:
* Plant Info
* Feeding schedules
* Yield results
* Time & light schedules
* Environmental conditions
* Purchase records
  * Warranty info
  * Guarantees
  * Price, Purchase Date
* Daily Logs - (Much like a grow log template)
  * Feeding Info
    * Date & Time
    * How Much H2O
    *  pH / E.C. / P.P.M. / Other
    * What and how much of each nute/additive was used for this feeding
* Etc...

But nothing out there fits the bill. So I am going to attempt making a Grow Log/Journal/Record Keeper/Reference that helps me track of everything, so I can get continuous results. Something I can use to reference past grow history, as well a general quick reference guide for sick plants, common conversions, common terms, etc.

With a little help from others who would actually use such a Grow Log, or Record keeper, I think I can make one up that does. To help me make a better guide, I need to get input from other growers who have a need for, or would find useful such a guide or record book useful.

An easy way that I have used in the past to tackle this is to apply a programming technique called "User Stories". User stories are basically requirements you as a user of this Grow Log need or want in order to find it useful, in everyday language, each listed in only a sentence or so.

The following template is generally used: "As a grower, I want a journal that <goal/desire>" - For Example:

* "As a grower, I want a journal that keeps track of my light schedules"
* As a grower, I need to keep records of what additives i use
* As a grower, I want to keep track of daily temperatures
* As a grower, I need to have a quick E.C. / pH / PPM conversion chart handy"
* As a grower, I need a journal that keeps track of when I water
* As a grower, I want my journal to alert me when there is a pH swing
* As a grower, I want to track what type of soil I am using for each cycle

Essentially, anything, you as a grower would find useful to keep a record of.

So, if anyone would like to help me create a better garden log, please feel free to add your own user story, trying to keep it to a sentence or two for each "story" (Generally, if a story is 2+ sentences, it can probably be broken down into two or more separate stories)

Hello all.

The more I try to simply "get it right", let alone get consistent results, the more I realize, for me, good record keeping is vital.

I have looked both online and offline for something to act as a physical record of historical data such as:

Plant Info

Feeding schedules

Yield results

Time & light schedules

Environmental conditions

Purchase records

Warranty info

Guarantees

Price, Purchase Date

Daily Logs - (Much like a grow log template)

Feeding Info

Date & Time

How Much H2O

pH / E.C. / P.P.M. / Other

What and how much of each nute/additive was used for this feeding

Etc...
