I'm about to begin building my second cab, i probably going to get a premaid cab and divide it up for veg and flower, what I'm thinking though is if the ambient temp, around this cab get get down in the twenty's, is flower on top of veg and using the heat from veg, to keep the flower chamber warm while lights off. This wont be a big set up, i want to use either 2 150 cmhs or 1 250 cmh for the flower, and probably a combinations of cfls and mh for veg. Any advise on weather or not the veg lights can keep both chambers warm when the flower lights are out?

looking for opinions

Hey everyone, first I want to say thank you so very much for all the help in my previous posts. I was afraid that I would have gotten flamed big time for one of my questions, but it was met with open arms as it should be. Thanks again to the masses that are TGC. With that bein said, I come to you once again for your opinions.

my current ventilation setup is lacking, so Im thinking of redoing it. Heres what I have now. My flower chamber is where the problem is its 24"X20"X59" thats 28,320 cu in, or abt 16 cu ft. My light is a sun systems HPS 150 that has been built up with a cool tube type system blowing the heat directly out of the cab, but pulling air in from the cab. (Thinkin I need to have the air to the lamp pulled from outside the cab to lower the temps a bit???) The passive inlet is abt 3"X21" in the floor, the exhaust is a 6" inline fan from HD. its 6" is open to the grow cab, the exhaust side of it has a 4" adapter into 4" ducting. It goes through a wall, with the correct wall adapters, back to 4" ducting to a can fan rs 4. From the can fan it goes to a 6"X24" can filter. The can filter is just sitting in the room the cab is in. The room the cab is in is 12'X10'X7.5' with a window AC unit keeping things at a nice 75~76 deg F.

Heres what Im thinking about doing. I want to take the 6" fan in the flower cab, and put the can filter in its place so that the filter is directly in the flower cab. From the filter I will run about 1.5ft of ducting to the can fan RS4, from there the ducting will run through the wall, into the closet, and along the 5 ft shelf to the crawl space access hole in the top of the closet. Ill duct the scrubbed air directly into the crawl space above the room so that it can disipate through the length of the building the room is in. Ill put some sort of a cover over the end of the ducting going into the crawl space to prevent something from crawling down the ducting, and prevent big chunks from falling in.

Im off to school for a few hours, and will probably start re-modeling things later this afternoon pacific time. its 10:25 here now BTW. I really look forward to input. Thanks again.

The Dementions for the inside of the box are : 1ft 7in Tall x 1ft Wide x 1ft 21in Long. Behind the black filter is a fan that keeps the lights cool and the air inside moving. The plants u see in the pic are a couple weeks old but they are not streaching and there growing there nods very close together....( The closer the nods the thicker the plant the bigger the yeild and the thicker the buds will be ).. anyway i wanted to come back on and share my upgrade to my box hopefully throw some ideas out there for others to use well catch u guys on the flip side and good luck to u on your grow's

grow tent comparison

so I'm planning on starting a grow in my closet, I have an area that is 52x30x60. so I'm planning on getting a grow tent that is 4x2x5.
I found a couple online, does anyone have any suggestions or experience with grow tents?
here are the ones I found, both from the same company... but whats weird is that they have the same measurements but they look so much different. I'm not quite sure which way is length and which is width
here they are:

YesComUSA.com*::*Garden Equipment*::*Grow Tents*::*4x2x5 ft Reflective Hydroponic Darkroom Grow Tent (http://www.yescomusa.com/product.php?productid=848&cat=77&page=1)

YesComUSA.com*::*Garden Equipment*::*4x2x5 ft Indoor Plants Hydroponic Homebox Grow Tent (http://www.yescomusa.com/product.php?productid=501)

I like the first one better but it is out of stock. but see how different they look? I dont get it.
but they are pretty inexpensive so I'm stoked. anyone have suggestions for other grow tents with the same dimensions?
I want it 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 5 feet high. so that is 4(w)x2(l)x5(h)? or is it 4(l)x2(w)x5(h)?
see my conundrum?
thanks for the help :D

im new to this forum but well versed in growing so......

I have calculated a series of design guidlines for vertical scrog systems which are based on lumen charts and keep the plants in ideal range from the chosen bulb at all times, which i intend to upload at some point, well onto the point...

at the bottom of the page is an image of a design i have mocked up for a 400w vertical scrog and i'm looking for suggestions/comments from you guys before building the thing........

Does anyone know if the O3 messes with the filter at all? Would i be ruining a good filter by sending the O3 thru it?

Thanks for any opinions.

PS.. Dont need any "overkill" comments. My middle name is Overkill.

I was giving electrical work a try today by adding another outlet in a more ideal location.

In testing the outlet the black(hot) wire hit the side of the outlet box. It sparked and I immediately turned off the circuit.

In and around the same time that this happened (I cannot be certain the above caused the below but most likely it did).

I have a 100AMP box that runs 7 15amp circuits to my room (6K watts plus lots of heaters). Of the 7 circuits, 4 of them seem to be dead or not working. I tried turning the breakers on and off but they never came back on. Oddly 3 seem to be working fine.

Does anybody have any insight on what I might have done????? I would like to get my circuits working as soon as possible so life can go on and I don't want this to be a big ordeal and I don't know any electricians who I can show my space too.

Your insight is appreciated.

Last Minute Construction: Reflectix and Passive Intake Issue

*REFLECTIX*

I need to line the floor of my flowering space to keep it controled, clean and managable. I have the entire space lined with reflectix and sealed with foil tape. I was thinking about lining the floor with this, making a basin and sealing it off, taping it to the walls. (I could've used panda plastic, but the reflectix is much easier to work with when you're short of help.)

But then I began to wonder if this would cause a problem as far as possible *ELECTROCUTION*. The stuff has a mylar lining on the inside between two layers of what appears to be plastic bubble wrap.

It was either this, or line the floor with panda plastic, but the reflectix is much easier to work with and much more durable.

Can anyone who has used this stuff give me your opinion?

*PASSIVE INTAKE ISSUE*

I need to light proof my passive intake. My plan was to drill four 8" holes in a plank for my passive intake and use 8" pvc elbows to light proof them. I can't find them at all.

So I was wondering if I could make eight 4" holes with my 4" hole saw and simply add "easy to find" 4" pvc elbows to achieve the same negative pressure and solve the light proofing issue?

Any advice? Thanks everyone :D

11 month photo update!!!

special greetings to Lou Cypher and others, who helped me get started last Dec 15th! :clapping::clapping::clapping: Hard to believe its been 11 months now. hard to believe I am as stoned as I am :):trippy:
anywho......here is a photo update of where things are at the moment...it's always changing.
Photo One:
is of my cloning bench, with six clones struggling for life:tweed:, and two larger buckets on the end. Overhead lites are regular hanging reflectors with a 26W flo bulb, output equivalent of 100W. I keep them about 1 ft over the plants as i want them to grow roots, not leaves.
Photo Two:
in the first bucket is a WW that is in stage two. It has sprouted roots and has been transplanted into its final container. I use colored pipe cleaners for strain identification: White = White Widow, Red = AK47, Green = Hymalian Gold. Don't have anything for blue yet, but do have some seeds marked as "SS" and don't know what they are. Anyone?
in the second bucket is my AK47 'mother'. Lets see how long she lives and how many kids she will have:) The white buckets are from wally-world, and drain into plastic 'drawers' you can get there as well. I empty them as needed, and in the summer it is a great addition to my out side garden. The plugs are 1/2" o/d screw-ins with clear drain tubing.
Photo Three:
my water/nuterant storage area. Yes those are Margareta mixer bottles. the pour spout makes measuring nutes easy. I do lug in my water right now but plans are on the table for future improvements in that area. The coffee container has epson salt in it, which i add to the gal jugs the day before i water. just a pinch each!
Photo four:
more stuff.

Photo Five:
now to the good stuff: here are three WW's and one HG with due dates of 12-3, (2)12-5, 12-30. I keep 3 records on the front of each bucket with a piece of duct-tape. 1-Name of plant, 2-date in: 10-3, 3-date out 12-3. the plant in the bucket in the grow room needs some duct tape on the front of it. The mother plant still has the same tape she started with. you can see the coffee can sitting in the perlite container. also look for the 2X4 screening i use to spread out the plant as much as possible as it grows. I am using two 400w HPS grow bulbs I got from HTG i think. they each cover an area 2X4' ft, so I have 2X8' ft of growing area. I try to have a plant come due once every week or so. as in .....
photo six:
is a WW, date in: 10-30, date out: 12-30.
photo seven:
my meditation chair, you have to wear a hat to keep the light out of your eyes, quite bright! The perlite container and two plants waiting for me to have the energy, along with the time, to recycle them. The perlite will go into another 55-gal container and dry out good. I only use perlite, not mixed with anything else except the starter container.
anyone need help with pic 8?

this brings us up to date, and for the results:

Last two photo's are of SOME of the results that anyone can do, some QUART jars of pure, dried AK bud and pure dried WW bud, the small pint jar in front is some prime leaf trimmings that will be packed into reg cigarette rolls.
any questions?

Quality water

Ok now for another question regarding my new garden setup. I want to use the most quality water for my babies so how would you recommend achieving quality water? My regular tap water is really not the best quality coming out the old pipes that I have. Can I setup some sort of filtration system straight out of my fossit? Or is there some way I can fill a reservoir up and then treat my water? Saving money is ideal but best quality is more important.:attentionwhore:

What kind of material to set smart pots on?

Ok so I'm in the process of designing my room, which I have a full 10' x 12' room with a closet to take advantage of. I was thinking of having 5 rows with 5 plants in each row. Also I was going to construct each row of plants ona sligt slant so that when I am watering all the excess water will drain into a bucket at the front of each row. I am not sure what kind of material I should set my smart pots on though. Should I just construct each row out of wood and staple heavy duty black plastic garbage liner type material like black poly to the top? Or maybe use a heavy duty plastic to construct the rows so that they less susceptible to leakage? Or any ideas of what to make my rows out of that I havent even mentioned? I hope I'm explaining this correctly, I know what I'm envisioning here but I don't always word these things out right. Any ideas of advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
