I've been growing L. williamsii and T. peruvianus for almost a year now. Has anyone else grown these with any success. I started them from seed. Out of 30 seeds, I only got two cacti. They were in a small cab with a 42W CFL for the first few months, with gradual introduction to sun light. We moved and the plants had to be in the morning sun several hundred miles south. The Peyote got a sun burn, put the Peruvian Torch grew well. During this time, no fertilizer was given. They were under minimal light during cold weather. They have been in window sills since, again several hundred miles further south. They get the morning sun in an east-facing window and I move them to a northwest facing window for sunset. I recently replanted to larger pots, but have yet to water or fertilize them. These pots are to be their home for the next several years (especially the Peyote). I'm interested in reading about feeding regimens, light options, et cetera.

Buzz - I've read most of those, but I'm still looking for a site that has as much information as GC does about MJ. Google has always been a long time friend. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thought I'd give a small update. It's been a good summer for the cacti so far. As you can see from the pictures, I moved the T. peruvianus outside without proper acclimation. It got severely sunburned. I'm still not sure as to the extent of the damage--the plant as a whole seems to be well, though. The black portions look to be dead tissue, but the upper growth tip appears to only be blanched. The peyote has slowly developed and hardly seems to grow from week to week. I'm loving this plant more and more every month. I'll forget about it for a few weeks and check back on it and it'll have grown another millimeter or so. Very cool. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Please read the terms of service... has a pretty good cactus forum. The soil mix for the loph looks like it has too much organic material. I'd be real careful w/ the watering. Keep an eye on that rot. If it keeps spreading, I'd cut it off. The tricho should start throwing pups anytime. | ||
