Just doing this in my free time, it's pretty well established. In the pic. it's under a 23 watt CFL and now it's under a 40 watt CFL getting bigger everyday, I'll show a new pic. of how it is next week if anyone wants to...

Sunflowers are great, but they are tall tall high-light plants and im afraid CFLS ( which i love! ) are gunna have some problemos.

yeah I'm not trying to get it really big, I actualy just want to make a really small sunflower..lol thought it would be cool.

just a 12/12 cycle. should it be different?

If you want it to grow vegetatively I would up the light cycle.

Well, it obviously flowers with the days being somewhat shorter but I dont think 12/12 will induce flowering. I would think somewhere between 14-16 hours on and 10-8 hours off.
