what kind of environ was "Plant Doe" in when found?
elevation, marsh or dry, etc...
not to probe too much but it would make searching a lot easier, turns out there are a lot of plants in the US, around water
hot?warm?temperate?cool?

Southern, river.. warm. It may have come from some homes in the area from recent planting and recent flooding or one of the many existing plants that grow along the river itself.

Although I'm not sure what they'd be called, from looking at the original leaf (before it died) I think it's going to be one of those tropical plants with long green shoots and single fan leaves at the end of each shoot.
