I've recently developed a bit of an obsession with succulents, specifically hawortrhias. It's rather convenient considering the extremely limited amount of space and natural light I have available for houseplants. I imagine it is succulents' characteristic thick fleshyness, seemingly epitomizing vitality, that appeals to me. Haworthias emerge as a prime example. For me, the same holds true with mj. When others were looking for the most frosty buds, I desired buds with the thickest, most swollen calyces. Most would load a kif bowl, but I would load a calyx bowl consisting of the juiciest calyces, picked and saved over time, and lemme tell ya, those bowls roasted like a mini tire fire was going down in yer pipe Haworthia Tessulata ![]() Tessulata flower ![]() Haworthia Viscosa ![]() My favorite species has still eluded me, it's the Haworthia Truncata Here are some of the other succulents in my collection: Pleiosplios Nelii ![]() Crassula Pyramidalis ![]() Sempervivum Globiferum, a repotted chick from some Hens and Chicks ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I used to have over a hundred different succulents years ago, I have a Burro's tail that I've had over 30 years, they're great plants, many have fascinating flowers, too, if you can get them to flower. I remember one, I can't remember the name, though, that had actual windows that let light into the inside of the plant.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was in a hurry before work this mornig, skimmed thru your pics, but that Haworthia Truncata looks like one of those window plants I mentioned. My 3 remaining succulents, the Burro's tail I've had 30 years, brought it back from Texas hanging from the coathook in a 75 Camaro, I almost lost it recently, I would have if it wasn't for Ripcord. My MJ plants were having problems, Rip noticed I was using softened water, explained about the Sodium replacing the Calcium, as soon as I stopped she came right back. Lost a 25 year old Ficus, I'm sure that's why. Center is a cutting from a jade I got 22 years ago as a wedding present, the mother was over 3' high when she broke under her own weight. Right is christmas cactus a friend gave me in New Hampshire, brought the cuttings back on the plane in my pocket. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Beautiful collections both of you, Tripps, over a hundred varieties, huh? wow! I could only dream of capturing so many unique and ornate monuments. The pursuit does in fact continue, remember my mentioning a slight obsession? My job allows me to work outside, and at times within detailed gardens in arid climate. Today I happened upon oodles of hens and chicks, in as many as 3 of 4 varieties. Stealthily, I pruned off some chicks with established but bare roots for the intention of rooting. I just can't seem to get enough succulents--and in many cases I don't believe taking cuttings from a garden of rapidly multiplying plants as damaging to my karma. I also procured a cutting of something very similar in structure to Burro's Tail which appears at the focal point of this image. I'm just not sure if it's a Sedum or a Crassula. The large Sempervivum in the middle is most definitely a tectorum, but the one in the back right seems to be a purple variety. Any guesses on which Semper that is or what Crassulaceae that is? ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | that Crassula is awesome. Just stay away from Kalanchoe Tubiflora... otherwise known as the mother of millions. I started with one and now have, a million. Cool looking but invasive as hell. | ||
