ive got a few other veggies and fruits goin out in the yard, i am thinking of expanding my production a little to get enough to maybe open a little stand or whatnot with all my goodies. ok, so i know that if you take a mj plant close to flowering and clip it, the clone will be at the same stage in life as the mother. does this go for most other plants as well. if i clone a fruiting tomato plant, will i have to go through another veg cycle? thanks for the help. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Flowering/fruiting in tomato does not depend on daylength. When the plant gets big enough, it will start to flower. You will have to grow out your tomato stem cuttings to the right size before they start to produce. ![]() penguin

I don't think this is correct, the cuttings will start to flower as soon as they "feel comfortable" for lack of the scientific explanation. If the mother plant is already flowering, the clones will flower just a couple of weeks after rooting. It really doesn't matter to clip the flowers when the plant is small, they won't do much anyway and if the soil, sun, and water are right the plant will grow like hell to catch up. Like I said, I don't know the science of this but have observed this personally. Perhaps it is different with Bush-type/determinate varieties - I don't grow them.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I grow mostly indeterminates these days. From seed, they start flowering much sooner than determinate varieties, and from stem cuttings too. It still takes them a while for stem cuttings to get established, it's not like they produce continuously through the cloning process. ![]() penguin
