An update on my tomatoes
permalink

A few weeks ago, I purchased some cheap tomato plants from Wal*Mart. I’ve never grown a vegetable before, or any sort of edible lant for that matter. When I brought the plants home, I transplanted them into bigger buckets. Within the buckets was some of the fantastic Fox Farms Ocean Forest potting soil, as well as an adequate amount of perlite for drainage and irrigation. About a week after having the plants, I noticed yellow blossoms appearing on the plants. Research online taught me that this is where the tomatoes will apppear!

The tomatoes have since appeared, and I am amazed at their rapid growth. I can’t wait to harvest these babies, and enjoy them on my sandwiches!

PS, anyone know what the holes and browning is from?

No they are not, they will infect your entire plant and kill it slowly. You need to get a veggy disease killer (they have it HD), I know, I've hed this before and I have it now. I acted fast this year at stopped it after it only infected the lowest branches, but in the past I have had entire plants succumb to this disease.

I could be wrong, but those spots and leaf yellowing could be early blight. I think one of the causes is high humidity/plants not getting enough air flow.

Cut off all of the infected leaves and don't put the stuff in the soil. It can live there for some time.

I think seven's dust may work.
