![]() ![]() ![]() | The veg garden has finally reached it's final form. The tomatoes had grown enough that they are all now trained to the vertical supports so that let me remove the horizontal support frame and bring the peppers into the flower room. All the hot peppers are on the left and the sweet peppers are on the right, total of 21 peppers and 18 tomatoes growing under a 1k HPS enclosed light fixture. jj

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks, Jadin, nice setup. If you like XXXXhot, try Fatali, a habanero strain, hottest I've found at tomatogrowerssupply.com.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks Mrs. Cheese for stopping by, yes all the plants are pulling from the same resv. not sure that is the best solution or not, time will tell as there just isn't much research on it. The nutrients are the same product line that Tripps got with his new system, Technaflora.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Ventilation re-model is just about complete for the time being so I figured I would fire it up and see how temps run, heat was huge issue. The big picture for this garden is a self contained 2K grow room with mothers and clones. First thing first was to get the temps down. Figured since I am fireing 2K I might aswell run 2 systems so I moved the peppers out of the tomatoe cage and built them their own home. It's a compatible DIY system with the E&G commercial unit the tomatoes are in. Move the pot, don't touch the plants. To be honest the plants are not doing well, temp's are 77F low and 81F high, humidity at 43%, ppm 450-600 (peppers-tomatoes). I am thinking I have not learned what PH these plants need, any help would be appreciated. jj

![]() | jj - Things are looking good! I like your trellis system. I was curious how you were going to support the vines and it looks great. As far as the feeding of the tomatoes they are HOGS. Your ppms should be at least 1200 with a ph around 6. Personally, I had some pretty severe nutrient deficiencies until I got past 1500 and they did best at 1800. I have talked with other growers (commercial hydroponic greenhouses) that go up to 2500 with a pH below six, but that's a production environment that is fully automated and dialed in to push the plants to their max. They use fertilizer injectors, measure the conductivity of the leachate, and also send in leaves for nutrient analysis on a monthly basis. Its cool to see a 1000 tomato plants in production with a yield measured in tons. Watch your plants and make sure they are happy. The unfortunate thing is you won't know if you have nutrient deficiencies until you get your first fruit set. Producing a fruiting body is more resource intensive than leaf crops or flowers. They are just a different animal than mj and IMHO a little harder to troubleshoot since you don't know you have problems until you have fruit that is growing. Your temps are fine. Once you get above 85 the tomato starts to have problem setting fruit and once the plant is over 92 its just trying to stay alive. Sorry I can’t help you more on the peppers but I would imagine you need to get them up to 1000 ppm and a ph of between 6-6.5. I look forward to more updates. SB

![]() ![]() ![]() | takeing a gamble and shutting down the veg garden, well I'm gonna keep the peppers going but will be takeing down the tomatoes. The goal was to keep something green growing and tomatoes do a darn fine job of that, just not interested in pollinating etc. I do have 15 more tomatoe seedlings that I will keep at all times incase I need to take the garden back to veg form on short notice. The picture is how the garden looks this morning, demolition starts tonight. Have a few rooted clones I want to try and flower out, maybe I can pull it off. wish me luck, jj
