Those look like black oil sunflower seeds. They are common in a lot of wild bird feed.

They don't look like any sunflower seed I've ever seen.

There really is no right way to grow, you have to resonate with a style and learn what you can,
tweak it to your own style and raise the bar each grow... OD '07

First guess...jatropha. But I know its wrong.

Why they would be where you found them is a conundrum.

I know I what these are, but I just can't remember the name, it is the seed of some sort of fruit, I just can't remember what, but I think it might be dates, or, no, wait, damn I can't remember, are they white in the middle and taste bitter?

I think they're beetle larva baby's indeed fryed.

imagine that, younger and black with no ripples yet (baby) and the drying up.

I've seen those things a few times when I was a roofer. didn't look too close then, but they sure look the same or at least very very close. never asked what they were though.

they sure look like seeds. when I was young I had a hamster. kinda had seeds that looked like that in my hamsters food as well. but that was many moons ago

I'm curious though. dont give up the search.
