GH Flora Nutes for Hempy Tom-Pep-Cucs
permalink

I am about to do an indoor hempy style grow with peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. Thanks to this forum (thanks EMj, knna! ), I now have a good handle on lighting, but now my thoughts have turned toward nutes.

I currently have the GH Flora Series nutes (Micro, Grow, Bloom), and I really want to use these on this grow. I’ve read about the proper amount and schedule for MJ, but I really need to know what amount and schedule to use for the plants I’m about to start. I know each one is a bit different.

I’ve gone through a ton of old threads in an effort to determine this by myself, and now I may be more confused than when I started! So, how should I utilize these nutes for tomatoes, peppers and cucs in a hempy grow??

Thank you so much for any information you can provide!

I'd look on the GH website, if they have one, and see if there is a "contact us" button, and ask. If EMJ stops by, he might know, he's done a lot of non MJ hydro. If all else fails, try the MJ schedule and watch for over or under nuting, and adjust.

ThanX tripps - great suggestion. I've dispatched an e-mail to the tech guys at GH. If I get a reply, I will post the information here so we all can benefit.

In the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I'm using GH3 part on Hempy and DWC tomatoes... I mixed them according to the instructions on the bottle... then diluted 50% to start... they are doing great...
The Hempy ones are up to full strength now and I will up the strenght when I change the DWC res next...
NOTE... these Tomatoes were grown from cloes of my outdoor plants not from seed

I'm a big fanof the winging it... If it were me I'd just start growing them. I grow in soil, and my hempy experience is limited to cloning. I do grow Tom- Peps-Cucs in soil though. My toms are still growing on my deck despite cold temps heavy winds and rain, and a ton of maple leaves falling on them... One of them actually has started to airlayer/clone itself with all the moisture and leaves covering, since it was already blown over tot eh side of the pot I just rested the rooting area in another pot and covered it with soil.

Sorry for the ramble, I'm very interested in seeing your Hempy veggie grow

Thanks for the info, PHH!

I'm growing from seed ..... well, I guess we'll see how lucky I am in terms of germination! Yesterday, I began the process. I now have 36 seeds (mix of cucs-peppers-toms) in rockwool over a heating pad and under a hood. I've used the paper towel method for germination in past grows, but I thought I'd try my luck starting straight in the rockwool this time. We shall see!

As promised, here is the e-mail question and reply from GH:

QUESTION:
Hello there.

I bought your Flora Series of nutes - micro, gro and bloom. I've been through your web-site and found some great information regarding feeding schedules here:
http://www.generalhydroponics.com/ge...ainToWaste.pdf

I'm using a "drain to waste" system (passive buckets), and I'm looking for your recommendations in terms of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. I'm guessing that each type of plant would benefit from some variation of your general schedule.

Any information you can provide is GREATLY appreciated.

ANSWER:
This is a question we get quite often and I am afraid the answer is not an easy one. Flora Series was designed to be a flower fertilizer and while it is possible to grow vegetables, it is not ideal. The problem is it is difficult to get enough potassium without going overboard on phosphorus and nitrogen. A 2-2-2 (two tsp/gallon of each) is the best recipe I can recommend for heavy feeding veggies like the three you mentioned. We have a dry concentrate called Flora Mato which is better for those veggies. It is a one part and works very well. It is also more economical.
Thank you,
Jesse Pennington
GH

So, there you have it. I'm not sure what to do now. I have the 3 part GH nutes that I'd really like to use. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to bump up the potassium a bit, or any other thoughts?? Could I use their dry concentrate (Flora Mato) in a hempy environment?

Thanks for anything you can add.

What do you guys think about the product (Floramato) recommended by GH? It's a dry concentrate. Would it work in a Hempy environment? Can I use it in combination with the nutes I already have ... GH Flora 3 part series? Any other thoughts?

I've got 12 cucumber sprouts in mini-hempys right now. With any luck, pictures to come!

Thanks!

I doubt anyone here could give you an informed opinion, guess you'll have to be the Guinea pig. I think they are a reputable company, I'd trust their advice.
