Ever grow 'em? Was it easy or worth the effort? The ad says $120 - how much yield do you get for that?

They say you just break the internal bag to mix spores and nutes and the rest happens automatically - you don't even open the sterile bag. How true is that?

Got any hints for a bigger/better yield if you've grown them?

Well, I've been growin' shrooms long before I grew pot...

Its much cheaper, doesn't require much light at all, its faster too... But I'll have to say its more difficult, at least it was for me, depending on what method you use. It requires more attention to details than growing weed if you can believe that. Although the work & time involved is much less... Its easier to get contaminants and loose your whole batch.

That little kit sounds easy peasy though, I'm sure you'd get some shrooms out of it but probably not very many. Not worth 120 bucks anyway... For $120 you could get yourself a pressure cooker, spore syringes, and all the supplies needed to grow a hell of a lot more shrooms than that... And keep growin em for only minimal investments in media, etc.

check out Shroomery & Mycotopia for more information

I reccomend the PF tek for beginners... After you've done that a few times graduate on up to casing techniques... The casing techniques are a lot higher yielding, but significantly more difficult... PF tek is a fairly sure-fire method with high success rate. You can even use the BRF cakes to colonize a casing if you want to experiment.

Keeping a sterile environment is the most difficult part... I highly reccomend buying a HEPA filter if you dont have one already..

I grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms (indoors and out - I love logs and woodchip piles) and 2nd what GreenDragon2k says. Mycotopia is a difficult site to wade through; lots of crap. Shroomery has lots of crap but a lot of really good stuff too. I've attended the Stamets seminars and suggest those when you get serious.

Don't buy the kits they sell online. You get set yourself up locally (better, cheaper, more fun). For spores ralphstersspore.com. For information I would go to fungifun.org first and shroomery.com second. I learned everything I know from these sites. For bigger yields use rye grain substrate with a casing. In about 3 months you'll have more than you can ever use! Listen to Baph or Psylisiben Warrior (on fungifung.org) they know their s**t! Have fun!
