Excellent! I was always under the impression they were slightly more subtropical than that.

I would love to put some on the southerly side of my house here.

Currently there are some rembrant tulips there that i originally thought were amazing but im losing interest a few years later.

Im wayy north. I was just afraid they may not take to the climate at nights. 50 deg evenings arent uncommon throughout the summer.

There's also the non-native lotus Nelumbo nucifera- Sacred Lotus, but it's hardy into Zone 5.which reaches as far north as parts of Maine and the UP of Michigan. You can get pond liners or prefab fiberglass units to create the water wonderland.

That may be another possible type for me to look at. I am a long ways into the northern parts of New England. I think they will handle summer temps.

I was just a little concerned that they may not return folowing years due to very cold winters.

On a few occasions during winter months it is possible to have 2 or 3 day spells of -15 deg F.

I was thinking of getting using some pond liner. The spot id like to have them in is currently a flowerbed for tulips.

I was thinking i may be able to simply removed a couple feet of earth and replace it with a long narrow pond of sorts.

My mother has a small fountain pond in her yard and I think she may be alright parting with some of the unused plastic.

I would like to show off some very pretty red cactus flowers that I thought everyone would enjoy. Not sure of the gender of the mj plant in the backround but they seem to grow well together. I had to chop back some of the cactus as it was imposing on my other little plant.

Nothing that exotic. It's a native plant that forms a purple berry. Here's a hint.
