Hiya. ![]() Winter cold has set in down here, so I've put many of my new offerings under a spare 400w. Most of these are unscheduled plants in the US, but I will still refrain from some points of discussion...just in case. Plants here come from every corner of the globe. In this pic, we have: - Calea zacatechichi - Dream Herb ![]() - Heimia salicifolia - Leonotis nepetifolia - Melissa officinalis - Lemon balm - Mentha arvensis v piperascens - Japanese Mint Plant - Orthosiphon aristata 'white' - Cats Whiskers ![]() - Rivea corymbosa - Silene undulata (syn Silene capensis) ![]() - Bacopa monnieri. Very interesting, being studied in relation to it's uses for combating Alzheimers and other neurological disorders. Apologies for image quality, just had my phone cam with me...not much to see at the moment anyway. ![]() ![]() The Leonotis nepetifolia are whats germinating...tricky to get going and easy to rot at an early stage. The Silene capensis is my first time - takes two years for the root to be ready, so it's going to be a special time when harvest comes. I'll keep you all updated as they progress through winter. I have been away from home lately and there are still more to be added. Have to dash off again but will be back by the weekend. Next up will be: - Zornia latifolia - Maconha Brava - Sceletium tortuosum - Kanna Really interesting specimen ![]() - Psychotria viridis - Chacruna A nightmare to germinate, but I have access to a cutting which I may use instead.- Lycium barbarum - Chinese Wolfberry. My first attempt, but I hear it is easy peasy. - Aspalathus linearis - Rooibos ![]() - Saururus cernuus - Lizard's tail - Nelumbo nucifera (white) Sacred Lotus For the Lotus, Lizards Tail and Bacopa monnieri, I will be preparing a small pond setup over spring that I have been dreaming of for a while now. Plenty of time to procrastinate. ![]()

ie. no perlite lying around on the concrete crunching beneath my shoes...I hate that ![]() Quote:
![]() I have to find some specimens like B.Cappi myself...I might just go for Syrian Rue. More. Training beginning on the Calea/Dream Herb. *heads up* I am pretty sure this plant is completely restricted across the board in the state of Louisiana. Pinched for some good lateral growth, started training on a stakes. ![]() New addition, Lizards Tail. Native to eastern US I believe. Transplanted in a thick soil mix which has to be kept soggy - loves wet feet. I believe it was used by native Americans as a poultice for inflammations and the leaves can have a sedative effect. ![]() Made room in my germination and cloning area for Leonotis nepetifolia (Klip Dagga) . Should take around 2 weeks if things go well. Good germination temperature is 18-22c. ![]() Need more supplies for more germination. I am just about at full capacity for my grow space...will have to be mindful, don't want to buy more lights. Most of these plants are just being grown out for further propagation and planting out in spring, so nothing will get too out of hand. Hardest thing is keeping up with individual plant needs. I have to get one of those grow diary books OD had. ![]()

Day 1. The wait begins. Attempting to germinate 11 of these. The problem seems to stem from the fact that they can take up to 6 months to pop, in that time, I guess bacteria can get onto the seed and kill the embryo. ![]() I will divide the seeds into two groups and try several methods: - 4 seeds were scuffed, then soaked in a mild bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) soaked for around 20 minutes. Seeds were then rinsed and placed in a cup of water for 24 hours. Water replaced every 8 hours. - 7 seeds were scuffed, then soaked in water for 24 hours. Water replaced every 8 hours. Germination will be divided into several mediums. Propagation sand, vermiculite, perlite and a straight seed raising soil mix. I was also thinking to water some of the seedlings with a H202 solution every couple of weeks... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well here is a Psychotria cutting. Psychotria Alba that is - not Viridis. About 40% less potent that Viridis. Germination of the Viridis is still going. ![]() Silene Capensis (Xhosa Dream Plant) is growing like wildfire. ![]() This plant is basically used to induce and clarify dream states. Reports of lucidity are also common. Quote:
