Well, since no one else is growing any. I figured I'd post this in a thread of it's own for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy June 14 ![]() June 24 ![]() June 29 ![]() July 2 ![]() ![]() July 7 ![]() July 10 ![]() July 11 ![]() July 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() July 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These were started indoors from seed at the beginning of may. Originally I started about 20 and ended up with about 5. They really like it when you bury the stem in seedling stage, unlike Cannabis. In fact if you don't keep the stem buried in seedling stage your poppies will shrivel and die. Just waiting for the ring at the base beneath the pod to turn black. Optimal harvesting time is within a week of the flower petals falling off. There are 5 in total in a large clay pot roughly 10 gallon pot. Bottom 2/3 is filled with rock and brick top 1/3 is my usual soil. I've also used aerated compost tea with liquifed bone meal. Poppies respond well to chilled roots with excellent drainage. Last edited by BCGuerillaGrowa; 07-14-2009 at 03:44 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Keep posting. Im interested in the outcome of these. Sure there has got to be one or two other gardening enthusiasts that wouldnt mind seeing how these turn out. I wouldnt mind edging my veggie garden with somthing like it next spring. Got any good links on specifics in growing poppy?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Have you ever tried the "hens and chicks" variety? I grew them a few years ago and they produce alot of the opium latex, more than others I have grown. Nice looking plant tho, I miss growing them.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Can't say I have TBFY . I've only ever grown giganthemums. This is the second year I've grown them. I hear white varieties like Persian or China are the most potent. Giganthemum is a heavy yielding but not as potent. It's more just for the heck of it anyways. Be honest I'd love to grow all the poppy varieties together. Danish Flag looks really cool.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thank TBFY I think I have seen that link in the past. Cool. I do enjoy growing them and can appreciate the uses of poppies but I'm still a weed man first and foremost. ![]() Apparently admin isn't accepting any new registrations over there at the moment. Thanks anyways.Last edited by BCGuerillaGrowa; 07-14-2009 at 05:14 PM..
