![]() | well... now usually im not really a big fan of this store but i got my venus fly trap from Walmart. It is in a plaster container and its potted in a peat moss like medium... which contains the plant perfect. I dont really give my plant nutrients because it seems its fine... but im assuming theres certain ones that you can give them. Scratch that i give them water mixed with a little bit of Blackstrap molasses...( only cuz thats what a i water my plants with) and it seems to like it. Use distilled or purified water... But yes high humidity is very important... they cant live in dry environments to long.... thats why they are endangered in the natural world now because of so many humidity and climate changes. An easy thing to do is leave about a half inch of water on the bottom of the bowl or container and then cover it with a top but leave a crack open. Then place in a window and with a little bit of time the side of the walls will be drenched with water... My plant from Walmart is doing great I've had it for about 4 months and it keep growing new heads to replace the old dead ones. The heads keep getting bigger so im going to tranplant into something bigger to see how the bad boy will react. Ive watched a video about different varieties of venus fly traps and some of them look amazing... Giant heads, really long teeth, even completely red or purple mouths. So I would definately invest on a venus fly trap online from a supplier.... After you get the hang of taking care of one from Walmart. Learn the ins and outs of it them bump up to a better one. I hope that answers your questions... Anymore?

![]() | Now I'm no expert, mind you, but I did a bunch of studying on venus fly traps awhile back when I was thinking of getting one (some). I still am, but I've got so many plants right now I can't really think where to put any new ones. Plus the VFT's need special care. First, the soil is usually sphagnum moss and little else. They get zero nutrition from the soil and will actually die if you try to fertilize them like that. They get their nutes by eating bugs, period. Like someone already said, meat is bad. It's too fatty and doesn't have trace minerals they need. Bugs, bugs, or bugs. Second, they need humidity. Like crazy high humidity. You'll need a terrarium or something that you can really stuff full of stuffiness, but without making the air stale. And finally you need lots of direct sun. Like the "ze goggles, zey do nuhting" kind of bright, searing light.
