Bought a Datura plant a few years back. It had a few pods which opened up and dropped a few seeds onto the deck right into the dogs dish. I dumped the dirty water off the deck and 3 years later I have a fully grown flowering Datura plant in my backyard. I wasn't able to get the seeds to germinate on my own I guess because I didn't have the patience to wait 3 years for them to bust a root. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice post, Lucky27 ... and good photo ! ![]() I had received a dozen or so sprouts of this plant a few years back, and planted around in our various gardens. They have been coming back from dropped seeds every year since I planted. In one area, they get so thick, I have to trim them back a couple times in the growing season; they can take over if you let them, especially if they receive an abundance of sunshine. But, I have to admit that when in flower, they are pretty. Would like to see if there are other colors than white. Anyone know?? Nelson

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks dudes.. Ya it's growing nicely. Yep there are tons of kinds of Datura. I had the choice between purple and white. Not sure on the specific latin name for this variety. Anyone ever try this stuff? I hear you hallucinate for days? ![]()

Nice way to go.Some reading on Erowid on first-hand use will cover the gamut of experience. Everything from glowing recommendations to descriptions of travelling to hell and ending up in an asylum. Datura will contain tropane alkaloids. Do some serious research before even contemplating it's use. Not something to be used casually.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ya Komet, I've researched all the same resources. Which led me to the conclusion that I would never ingest Datura or recommend it to anyone else. Strictly for the ethno-botanists viewing pleasure. I don't do drugs I just smoke weed. Last edited by Lucky27; 09-05-2009 at 04:47 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() | I once ate some root and on a separate occasion I ate a pod, both times werent what I would call a "good trip". the first time we were camping in AZ and I got in a fight with drunk airforce dudes, they almost cut off my finger and stole ramnom things from every camper in the park(not the plants fault I know) and the second time, when I ate the pod, it just felt dirty and I wanted it to stop.
