My tomatoes will not turn red!
permalink

I have a tomato plant in my front yard. It is in 10-15 gallons of soil, I dont really remember what brand but it was the best option I had at the time. It gets full sun from early afternoon till sunset, and is usually only watered with plain water.

About a month ago it started growing tomatoes and not one of them has turned red yet. The plant does not look deficient in any way, other than not ripening tomatoes the plant looks very healthy.

What could be my problem?

I picked a lot of mine when green - that had stopped growing, weeks ago, to save them from birds and critters. Some are just now turning red.

They always turn red. It's just that tomatoes have more patience than people.

What he said.

My cherry tomatoes always turn red on the vine, but my bigger strains very often wait until they are cut. I agree with waiting to cut until they stop growing. Sometimes I'll have 2 tomatoes together, one turns red on the vine and the other doesn't; it waits until after I cut and put it in a sunny spot inside.

Flowering period in tomatos varies as much as cannabis.

I have one variety..EXTREMELY fast flowering.

called Ball extra early.. a commercial variety unavailable
from Tomato seed retailers.

I had some ripe in Early-Mid august. Yes vine
type cherry tomatos also ripen faster.

Try Patio or Patio F Hybrid

stumpy stout plants fairly fast to ripen.

Medium round firm tomatos.

It's a good hybrid.

Sun Sugar are the brand of cherries I have goin'.

Golden boy or Golden ripen fairly quick as well.

Try this link for best tomato variety seed selection
