Banana Plant Question
permalink

Does anyone here grow banana plants? I have one that I am over wintering indoors in a section of my basement with several other tropical plants. I have noticed black areas on the stalk (they were there all along). It is not migrating to the leaves and the plant is growing very well. I am just wondering if that is normal or if I have some kind of fungus. Would it be safe to mist with 3% H2O2 if it is a fungus of some sort?

Thanks

I used to grow them and had a really old one. I had it outside during the warm season and would bring it back in. I had a friend help me move one day and she (without my knowledge) put it in the trunk of a car. Mind you its hot outside. Well I forgot about the plant and when I wanted to set it in my living room. I said.. "Hey, where is my nanner plant".. She said.. Oh its in the trunk.. 3 hours in a trunk in the heat.. BAD. It melted. I tried to save it..

I would love to have a start of another one. Here locally one lady grows it in her greenhouse. In the back of it and leaves them in the ground. She heats the greenhouse during the winter so it grows year round.. I should say they grow. She gets bananas all the time. She said they are much smaller but are still bananas.
