Question Texas Purple Flower

Hey there, a friend of mine gave me this really cool looking purple flower. It grows out like a vine. Its native to Texas, Im just wondering what kind of flower it is. I have a branch rooted in a cup taking off. Anyone have a clue?

Bluecheese, Lou, rockpython, komet, thanks for checking this out. Thanks for the info Lou. Wanted to read about it some. It really is a cool flower. I love it. He just yanked a chunk out of his yard. I trimmed it up a bit, and I stuck it in a cup of FF soil a few days ago. Looks like its taking just fine. Found out it will work in a container with a trellis. Fun experiment.
