eh, not so tough

I have one and it isn't invasive in CA at least, the winter cold/wet seems to beat it back to the verge of death. It's kind of pretty when it's young, but it gets leggy and sheds lots of old leaves as it gets bigger. Probably best to top it and replant the tips if you want it to look good.

It cloned really easy for me, just stick the ends back in the dirt in the same pot and they'd root quickly. Actually it seems to prefer things on the slightly dry side, perhaps you tried rooting them too wet.

i love this plant, but it goes EVERYWHERE. it doesnt climb around thou. like everyone said. its roots extremely easy, just drop it in water for a few days. you could also pee on it and stick it in the oven for a couple hours. itd probably still root. probably the only plant that i known that is hardier than MJ

And almost unkillable too. One of the most foul, and toxic plants I've ever encountered. Along with Agapanthas.
