roses...

Roses can be a bitch to grow, some plants do fine with little-no maintenence, but others attract pests and get bizzare diseases every time you turn around. I've found that I need to use considerable amounts of anti-fungal and pesticide sprays on roses to keep everybody happy, and that's out if it's near edible or smokeable plants.

I'd try to get her hooked on orchids or some other high maintenence plants, it'd be waste to grow much else indoors.

Why not teach her to grow? I dont know about all you guys but my wife loves what i do. she is so fascinated with my grow box. She wants more. Maybe i am just lucky but if your other half likes the product, maybe she could be lured in by the many varieties and the multiple ways to grow. Thats how i got my woman in on it.
Strawberries are fun and i have heard of Hydro grows of some very nice Fruits but why waste on that when you could grow one of the sweetest fruits in the world, Cannabis. All women are diff so it may not be the right approach but its an idea. Ya know, let her do her own little grow to herself. I think she would really enjoy it but then again, maybe the idea would be insulting too. i heed caution before just unloading the idea. Not sure if that had completly been evaluated as an option but I figured i would let you hear it.

Panama,
We've had fun picking out different types of annuals or even perenials seeds from catalogs. We start them out in seed tray flats and then transplant the pots when bigger. I've given away the "fruits of our labor" to others and they get to see them flower that summer or year after year. My wife would mostly rather watch the tube and does'nt like my other "fruits" so it gets tough finding something to share other than CSI. Nature

just get a seed catalog

and ask her if she would like to try her hand at growing something from in there

dont ever assume

ask

make sure you include the fact that you would like to spend more time with her and share in growing something together that you could then enjoy id personally go with either tomatoes or strawberries

its a heart stopper for em......they tend to melt a little

well as far as my experience is concerned... but its really the thought behind it that counts: that you want to spend more time with her

Grrrr....stupid machine cut me off in the middle of my rep message to sleepy , "-doesn't fire more points..."

Whatever, I think sleepyrz really nailed it with the sentiment thing. Its less about wanting her in your pot-room, and more about just wanting her near and sharing in the joy your pasttime ( ) gives.

Thing is, you already know that, you've just gotta tell her straight up like that.

its a byproduct of living with 3 girls i know what to tell them to get them to do what i want

but i dont look at it that way....ive just found my way of communicating in the most efficient way to get my point realized

plus i live in miami and the female to male ratio here is an insane 10-1
so theres always women folk around and you just learn to speak to them so im really just a product of my environment

All of those are considered to be "cool weather vegetables". Obviously some of those are out for hydro applications, however it gives you a good idea of what you have some possibilities to grow. I would suggest any leafy green because thats mostly what NASA grows in there hydroponic gardens; with great success. Maybe spinach, or kale would be cool cause its a bunch of different colors and you can continually harvest it.

Good luck dude! My girl friend hates it when I go and work in my garden, but I tell her: nothing is going to change by you bitching at me and it would be unfair for you to take away something that I'm passionate about. On the flip side you gotta balance those things your passionate about with spending time with her. I do like your solution of getting her involved though. I may do the same

My girl likes sweet pees or sugar snap pees. So I put aside one pot for her in my Aero set up. Ya have to keep your women happy

I would love my girl to grow with me. My girl would be helping me grow my girls

So this should be intresting. I told her she has to learn all she can about the pees growth and needs.

I also got to fire off a .22 rifle and after she liked that I had her fire off my 8MM Turkish Mouser. So you just have to give it baby steps
