Beefsteak?

This giant plant appeared in my yard this year, and i really like the way it looks. Then i was wondering "How am i going to figure out what this thing is???" This is where it blew my mind...

I went to google and typed "plant identification" because i wanted to learn how to figure this thing out. The first site i went to had this picture...

Maybe its just me, but that looks like my plant. Seems way too lucky.

Can anyone tell me if I'm right? And if im not, can you tell me what it is?

I have no idea, but it reminds me of pictures I have seen of tobacco plants... maybe you could start your search there. Could be a relative or something....

That's a Polkberry bush, When the berrys are ripe they turn almost black, We used to get into fights with it when we were kids, Damn berrys stain clothes permenantly and have to wear off the skin if it dries on you By the way, don't try to eat em, i hear the berrys can be poisonous

Polkberry - never heard of it. The leaves and the flower remind me of a kind of hydrangea. It's beautiful, I hope you like it.
Peace-

There really is no right way to grow, you have to resonate with a style and learn what you can,
tweak it to your own style and raise the bar each grow... OD '07

Down in Louisiana
Where the alligators grow so mean
There lived a girl that I swear to the world
Made the alligators look tame

Poke salad Annie, poke salad Annie
Everybody said it was a shame
Cause her mama was working on the chain-gang
(A mean, vicious woman)

Everyday 'fore supper time
She'd go down by the truck patch
And pick her a mess o' polk salad
And carry it home in a tote sack

Poke salad Annie, 'gators got you granny
Everybody said it was a shame
'Cause her mama was aworkin' on the chain-gang
(a wretched, spiteful, straight-razor totin' woman,
Lord have mercy. Pick a mess of it)

We used to shoot em at eachother with slingshots (luckily no one lost n eye lol). If they became too ripe they'd squish in the pocket and you could'nt get a shot off. Ya want em just before when used as amo. Then they lauch perfect and squish on target AND leave a good stain
