![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you're talking about grafting seedlings, google "pereskiopsis" "graft", and any other interesting words. To graft larger plants trichocereus cacti are usually used for rootstock. There are all sorts of articles on the subject. Just takes the raw materials and practice.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Although this link refers to seedlings, the procedure is the same for larger plants. Check out Nook Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board) also. You have to register to see some of the forums. Check the archives too. Cultivar: issue 2 (12) Connecting the vascular rings is probably the hardest part. If the rings on the scion and rootstock are different sizes, you can offset them. Try to at least match them up at two points. No humidity dome. I use a peice of pantyhose to apply pressure to the scion, and secure it to the pot w/ a rubber band. Then wait. After a couple of days it should look like it's glued on. If it seperates, just make fresh cuts and try again. Cut the scion high so areoles are left on the loph section, after cutting. New pups will grow, and you can gra ft those also. ![]() | Here's a great resource for information: Cactus Grafting Grafting takes a bit of practice but once you've gotten it down, it's no problem. Good luck J.

I cannot believe I never thought of grafting the little buttons onto other cacti, so wait, will this increase growth? What is the entire purpose. I haven't started googling this idea yet, it just seems this might be a good idea ![]()

![]() | well I would hope so, but since peyote is like a long term goal with years to get one button to payout size (not a tray) are we talking halfing the growth time? or just "This really helps"

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Real rough guess, but some where around 5-10 times faster than normal. Trichocereus can take a richer/wetter growing medium than lophos. Most that graft them don't intend to consume them. They still seem to need to mature before the alkaloid content is at useable levels. Most tend to still use the trichocereus sp. for recreational use. It's possible to get them to flowering size in 2-5 years by grafting. A seed can reach golf ball size in a year easily w/ a little care. Once you get one graft going, it's possible to multiply them rapidly by cutting the grafted lopho then grafting the resulting pups. Just leave some aereoles on the cut section, and the remaining aereoles will pup once the main part of the loph is removed. It's a bit harder to graft the seedlings, just because they're so small.
