The "show new threads link"

Hi THC,

a couple of things realy....

• The view new posts link, how does the time re-set? if I knew how long the timer lasts, I'd be less likley to fall foul of it when I accidently close the wrong browser. somtimes you can miss a whole ruckload of threads/replys by closing the first browser with the search results in, specially if you've done some long posts in the meantime (should stop waffleing eh )
  
  A way around this would be to allow searches with nothing in the search fields so we can search by date only and view all threads from a certain date, like all yesterdays posts or somfink
• there have been some good ideas posted in the new sugestions fourm, some have replys saying, "yeah we'll do that" but then we never see it again. Citracs new member page thingy (though this may be in now and I've not seen it ) and somone sugested allowing pics to be posted in PMs too, whats happening there?
• recent outages (not many and I'm not that bothered ) but it's a pain when you hit submit, to see "this page is not Blah blah" and you just lost the whole post.

This leaves us (well me at least ) wondering what's going on, only in a curiousity sense, not having a pop or anything so, although off topic in here I submit a new sugestion for a monthly/quarterly HC.com newsletter post. You could let us know of any planned server downtime, impending new fourms and time frames for projects or sugestions action whatever, you know, keep in touch and get feed back

it's a pain when you hit submit, to see "this page is not Blah blah" and you just lost the whole post.

I highlight and copy my posts before submitting, so if the server is too busy I can just paste it into the box later. I have extra mouse buttons programmed to copy and paste so it's really easy but you can just use control+c/control +v also. I also do that with PM's in case the recipient's box is full.

Yep- I started doing this, especially on my longer replies. It's just a good habit to get into!

what about the other stuff just logged on today and by the time I'd answered my PM's I hit view new posts to see 3 posts how does that thing reset?

It's hard to help folks out when the search doesn't chuck their thread at me I suppose going long hand through all the fourms is an option, but mini's & hotpants are in this year, long is sooo last season
