When I read posts the pictures are labeled as attachments instead of just being shown to me in the body of the text. I have changed settings to make it so that pics are to show up but they still are labeled as attachments... any info is much appreciated. Thank you. | ||

 | Due to bandwidth constraints - images will now be shown as attachments and should be individually downloaded. In the near future we will be implementing a small version of the image instead of the text link, however, this will take some time. This decision was not reached easily and is absolutely necessary in the short term. I hope you can understand. However, doing things this way should greatly improve the time it takes you to download threads and should speed up your surfing by an order of magnitude. Try to look at the bright side  Soon enough we will have preview images...Rick | ||

Bummer!! That kinda' sucks. Bandwidth, eh'....ouch! Any clue as to when the "small version" is happening?? (may as well ask now).. Anything we can do to help? Makes the VI and GJ a bit less fun...(you cant load up the pictures on one page and scroll through them really fast--like time lapse photography....)   Are we going to be able to put more than one picture in a post then?---sorry if it's a sore spot---

Yeah I agree Stash, that was what I loved about the GJ and VI, but I guess we'll just have to start getting used to it, doesn't take anything away from the boards at all, just less convient, it'll probably make a lot of 56k users happy though, so I guess it's just sort of a trade off! =) Hopefully the preview images will be implented soon, keep up the good work though rick.

| I hear ya, EadStash - But the situation is really dictating the changes that you are seeing. Bandwidth usage must be decreased immediately and this is the only way to do that. As far as when the preview image code will be in place, I cant say for sure. There are several new things just around the corner and the image code kindof depends on them. Mainly, vB 3.0 is just around the corner, and there is the possibility that this feature may be in the new code. I'm not sure if we'll have to wait for vB3 to be released before we have the image preview code, though... I'll be looking at it this weekend. | ||

| To avoid the inevitable whats up with the pics PMs and posts, it may be worth making this anouncement into a sticky for a while will father christmas bring us a gallery option too, so we can just see all a particular members pics in one page? I've been a good boy  in the meantime... Bump Sanster  Edit forgot to say, Donations can be made to the site via paypal, there's a link on the MJ.com or cheaptalk fourm over there, MJ.com is our sister site it works great too, no fuss, just make a donation via credit card on paypals secure server, all done in an instant there's even a little message box on the paypal donation, where you can send an "I love HC here's something towards the upkeep" message.
