![]() | I would appreciate a moderator to answer this unless you are 100% sure. Do they keep a log of your IP when you post anything? Is there any way that you can be traced and prosecuted after posting here? Lets say for some reason, this site gets screwed by some higher athority. If they said: Give me a log of all the IP addresses and members info that you have! What would happen? If you have a log, is it constantly deleted? I dont want to get in any trouble for posting on a message board for crying out loud! ![]() I dont see people getting on saying "don't post, they will get you" so i feel pretty confident that we are ok.

![]() | mods and admins... just set-up the system to clear the ip log every 500 milli-seconds shouldn't slow down the system (it's just text) and it will keep users here feeling safe and secure ![]() i have a degree in this stuff, so you can believe me i know...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No need, Bishop, we don't have an IP log for OperationOvergrow. ![]() Rick will be addressing this soon. He's had a bad month, so cut the guy some slack, okay?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Security: -HempCultivation.Com I dont keep any ip logs that would tie a user to a post. IP logging is disabled in the vBulletin software that runs this site. I no longer keep detailed traffic statistics for HempCultivation.Com so I completely disabled Apache webserver logging on this domain - no need for it, just slows things down and creates increased server overhead. With that being said - nothing is impossible for a determined cracker. I can only control the security of this site up to the point that it leaves our border router. Outside of my network it is possible for an evesdropping device to be in place that would be able to pick up TCP/IP transmissions between my network and your workstation. This would be tough - but not impossible. It would most likely require your ISP to participate, either willingly or not so willingly (hacked). The bottom line is that it would be no small feat for someone to identify you from your post. If you are interested in learning more about being anonymous on the Internet, Click Here . Hope this helps some. Rick

![]() | Rick, Thank you for responding. Although I am basically computer illeriterate, I think you've given me enough information that I can ask one of the guys who works for me to check security on my end. Not so much from this site, but you can't be too careful. Thanks again, Lil

![]() | Just a side note, that with the addition of the SSL page, it make it virtually impossible for someone to intercept a TCP/ IP transmissions between Rick's network our workstations. This makes viewing the site just as secure as sending your credit card info over to amazon.com to buy your botany books : ) Just realized that post is more than a year old and someone likely made this point already
