I have just received an email from an alleged member, SmokingHOT. It's offering me:

Now, I'm not humourless and not averse to the idea of naked girls smoking weed but I AM very concerned that someone has been able to ascertain that I am a member of this community and send me an email entitled "Marijuana.com member special"......NOT pleased

I am certain that every effort is made to protect our identity and prevent email addresses from getting into the wrong hands. However, I am worried that if some two bit programmer working for a porn site can get hold of them then it is feasible that.....well, you can work it out.....

Please set my mind at ease.....

p.s. If you're not onto this already, please get in touch and I will forward header info, routing details etc.

I just sent you an email from your profile page, if this got into your mail box then I don't think there is any need to worry it doesn't mean that they can get your email address. Look at anyones profile page there is an email button on most peoples profile.

The only vulnerability I can find on this site is people being able to obtain your IP address.

Thanks for the speedy reply bushsolo....I did receive your email and in exactly the same format as the other mail so it must have reached me this way. I did purposefully turn sight of my email off a while back but it has somehow turned back on....no, I'm not blaming anyone! Probably user error....

One strange thing that might still raise an eyebrow...the address used is not the address I have registered with HC.com but another on my domain. Actually, there's a problem right there.....

Has anyone else received this? I did a user search on SmokingHOT and found nothing.....

for what its worth:

1) there are no email lists kept for marketing/capitolistic purposes.

2) member SmokingHOT registered 01-30-2004, and is probably spamming some site.

3) admin has now been notified about this.

I guess folks are saying that I sold the email list now because of this spammer. Just to set the record straight, the spammer used the "Email this user" feature in your user profile page. From this page folks can chose to email you through this board, thus NEVER allowing the spammer to actually have your email address.

I didnt sell your email addresses to spammers.

I also got the email. I just forwarded it to the contact us link at the bottom of the forums. looks like problem has been solved.

If somebody would even think that you ever even thought that would have to be an idiot.
From what I have seen, you bend over backwards to make this the most secure site ever to come to.

I never doubted the site's integrity for one minute nor the security measures you take, I thought you may have been hacked and only intended to report it. I should have just forwarded this to a mod like KS....I instinctively posted here, sorry if I caused panic.
