Sifting through the new posts this morning I thought to myself, "Gee, a standardized format for people posting with Nursery related questions would really help others give better answers." It's very common for someone to post a question or pic and say "HELP" without providing any information about their setup - usually a 1 liner from a newbie peppered with cryptic abbreviations like 'ur' (last I knew that as a city in Mesopotamia ). The response is always "post more info so we can help you."So how about it? If everyone posting to the Nursery uses some sort of "triage form" they will probably get much faster answers that help them better tackle the problem. I don't want to make it too difficult but it's damn hard to answer some of these questions. The experts on HC.com are good but they don't have ESP (OK, well maybe some do...) Here's a first stab at it: Baseline info -Indoor/Outdoor: -Soil/Hydro: -Plant Age: -Strain: -Light type/wattage (if indoor): -pH: -Temps: -RH: -Ventilation: -CO2? If soil -Chem/Organic: -Soil Source: -Soil Amendments: -Fert Schedule: -Watering Schedule: -Soil pH: If hydro -Water source (tap/distilled): -Nutes: -TDS if known: Suggestions?? ~cb

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The real problem / difficulty is getting posters to use the posting guidelines. Many, if not most, posters assume that others can read their minds. Also those who answer posts that don't provide enough information by just guessing at the problem aren't really helping, not that we aren't guessing at a diagnosis when there is enough information. As always cecil_b you put quality into what you do. (you to Buzz)

I was actually thinking it could be like a form that people would copy/paste into their post so that folks could easily scan it and newbies would remember to fill out everything they know about their grow. Maybe that's too much to ask but it sure would be nice. I wonder if an HTML questionnaire could actually be built into HC.com. Anyone who posts a new thread to the Nursery gets a form to fill out rather than just a blank text box. Too complicated?~cb

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | it would mean changing the format of one part of the site, if we do that wed end up having to change the format everywhere else too ![]() i agree with buzzmobile, the wheel has been invented and by posting the Nursery Posting Guidelines link over and over in threads with incomplete information, perhaps we can disconnect the brake ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Would it be helpful to divide the Nursery between soil and hydro similar to the way the Grow Journals are split? That way, if you have a problem or want to lend a hand, you know where to look without having to go through the threads searching... Cap'n
