genetic traits, mostly. a lot of mj plants will turn purple in lower temperatures. some more so then others. some have genetic traits that happen to also have very strong purple attributes, and those might turn purple at even warmer temperatures, for example my granddaddy purple turns purple on its own without any provocation from me, temperature wise.

no, it isn't necessarily more potent. in fact in the potency category granddaddy purple is lacking, but the taste, smell, make up for that.

i know other purple varieties that might be more potent then GDP, but not quite as tasty, such as some blueberry strains.

I've got some purple Jack Herrer and it is easily on my top 5 list of best bud I've smoked. Tastes great, really potent, looks incredible, and I swear when I smoke it, everything looks more purple. (Probably just my imagination.)

Hello,I just got on to this web site. There are more reasons than one why the purple (anthocyanin pigment)Primarily genetic's.Also primarily a Indica trait usually ,but not always. Also cold temperatures constrict the cambium and girdle the sugar in the leaves.Purple is a representation of sugar in the plant.

Real Blueberry will start to turn purple in the first 2-3 weeks of flower regardless of temp.

Why not the purple? It's purty! It's also genetics and people who dunno any better will say that it's REALLY good smoke because of the color. The truth is that while purple is prettier to look at it really has no bearing at all on potency. If your selling dope it is also a good excuse to raise the price and therefore the profit margin.

Disclaimer : Growing cannabis is illegal under federal law in the USA and I do NOT suggest that anyone should do so. After all the govt. would then consider me a bad person and well... that would just break my fucking heart.
