hi all,

a quick question: what's the difference between an F2 and non-F2? I understand that an F2 would be a second - generation strain, but what does that mean in terms of potency, vigor, plant health, etc.??????????

Thanks,

bri

An F1 hybrid is the result of a cross between 2 stable strains; generaly it presents hibrid vigour, meaning more vigourous then both parents and more pottency as well.
F1 hibrids tend to present 2 different phenotipes, one resembling mom and the other...

F2 is the cross result of both F1 hibrids having as a result something like 25% mom + 25 dad + 50% grandparents so variability should be high...

Hope this helps,

wolf

thanks wolfman,

but what i'm getting at is this: I decided to go with Cinderella99 seeds from BGrimm/HS--want to send $ this week.

Now, I just noticed that on C-Bay, there are F2 C99 seeds from BGrimm stock at significantly lower bid prices ($22-30).

Why should I pay $150.00 when I can get F2's for maybe 25 or so?

If it's a C99 F2, shouldn't it be a steady strain since it is not hybridized with say, a Durban or whatever? Or would it be less potent because it lacks hybrid vigour?

Thanks agian.

At this point you must ask if you want Soul's ( it was soul that did cindy right?) C-99 or the grandkids of his.

Every seed can be called an F1 an F2 and a P1.(parent) it all depends on how far back you want to take the comparison. With other seeds you must also factor in unknow characteristics from contamination. ( stray pollen)

Personally I always look at the horse in front of me rather than the books of genetic lines...

Basically I don't think anyone should pay more than a couple of $ for F2 hybrid seeds which will have been knocked up in some amateurs grow room. They will not produce consistent results so purchase them at your own risk.
