I have heard only about Indica and Sativa plants and their crosses, but many sources have alluded to the existence of other varities of Cannabis. Does anyone happen to know the name of any of these mystery varities and has anyone ever grown them? If yes, any good? If not, why are they not grown or talked about?

Indica/Sativa crosses (F1 hybrids), are the best way to combine the short flowering time/size from most indicas with the taste/high of sativas.

There are plenty of strains (300???) but other variety of cannabis good to smoke??? I don't think so, i can only remember Ruderalis but it's crapy bud

Ruderalis is being used in crosses to research the auto-flower trait. On its own, as Wolf said, it's not worth it.

Americanus is Hemp.

Most of what we see today is hybrids.

Ruderallis flowers at a set time, I'm not sure exactly how long; maybe 60 days, under 24/0 lights. The draw back is the lack of control. The benifit is obvious.

I understand now. That would indeed be a very desirable trait under certain circumstances.
