![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I found this from my homepage this afternoon. Myhrvold: Genomics Will Rule i was thinking earlier about the difference between me, who's at times refered to as a breeder, and the guy/gal who grows simply to sell by the gram. Think about it. BD ![]()

![]() ![]() | This is truly frightening, considering the spending habits, education, medical history, criminal history, financial history, work history, and any other recent past involvement in nearly anything by any individual is easily found(and RECORDED!!) by the lovely little device under all our fingers. Has anyone considered that combining the recent FBI addition of "Carnivore" and 5 generations of improvements, 20 years to assemble the exact medical historys of every American(or human)and the mentioned genome project could lead to some surreal Orwellian "1984" America that no one can hide in? Call me paranoid cause I am! BTW, what are the Hempcultivation ramifications of "Carnivore"? High Times mentioned some bills in congress (sic intentional) that could end websites like this. I loved that fake "Tomato Times" cover...

![]() | That articel gives a pretty science fiction shodowed view of the poewr of the human gneome project. It won't tell us as much as they claim, but they are right in that it is a start. All it will say right off is the ATCG's of human genes, which tells us nothing of the protein that will come out of that blueprint. The protein structure, function, and whether or not it is optimized will take years of research for each gene. That is a long time. But they are right that it has the potential to go far. So far we have sequenced Humans, Arabodopsis (small plant), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (budding yeast), and Drosophila (fruit fly). Pretty good start, but we aren't making fruit fly's that are ****ing things up, and I certainly haven't heard an Arabodopsis plant squeal, "feed me Seymour!". ![]()
