Anyone ever seen an 8 or 9-leaf cannabis plant? The seven leaves are like any other plant but where the stem meets the leaves there are additional one or two “hook” leaves. They are small and curve almost 90 degrees in the middle. Anyone know what strain this is, or is this the norm for some plants? This is an experiment and the seeds are of unknown origin. Thanks for any feedback! ![]()

![]() | Nine fingers is not unusual. I have seen this several times. I think I have even heard reports of 11. Some strains might have a propensity for it, but I do not know which. You might see an 8 fingered leaf, but that would just be a leaf here and there and maybe due to some damage on the plant. Odd numbers of fingers is rule.

![]() | All the leaves on two plants have 8 or 9 fingers and the other plants are normal. I would think it's the plants genetic code? They are healthy with no apparent problems. I was curious due to the curvature and small stature of the extra fingers/leaves. Maybe it’s and mutated plant that produces 4ft buds, never hurts to dream Thanks!

![]() | definitely has to do with the genetics of a plant. I just had a similar situation where most of the leaves were 9, but there were a couple with 8.

![]() ![]() | MOST of my leaves are 9 fingers, and I have personally had 11 finger leaves on each plant I've grown

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They come in pretty much all numbers and sizes, a freind who lives out in the country grew a Sativa dominant seed outdoors and by harvest the largest gaurd leafe on the plant was from his elbow to the tip of his fingers, about 14 or 15inches, and had twelve blades. It was Huge! Im sure theres been much bigger too.

| i'm not so sure the number of leaflets is genetic...i've had many plants of the same type with different numbers of leaflets... but i think it has to do with the plant's overall health. really healthy plants seem to grow more leaflets...and produce more bud...the better you treat them ![]() this one has 13 leaflets, the longest ones are 12+ inches long. i'm thinking of saving the leaves for blunt papers ![]() ![]() | ||

![]() | i think you are right about the better health=more leaves. after reading this I noticed the plants that were closer to the co2 and had better light exposure had more fingers. It might not be a rule but i think that is a good indacation of you plants averall health. thanks for all the replies.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sativa dominant plants tend to have a higher number of leaflets than indica. But this is not always the case. Many factors could affect the number of leaflets. Light exposure, overall health, etc. It is probably just genetics though ![]() Whatever it is, who cares, as long as it is still sticky icky and bountiful ![]()
