![]() | If youwant to get tech, you can treat the seeds with ethylene, or apply a GA inhibitor during the veg and first part of the flower cycle. Personally, I think the best way is to germinate a bunch of seeds, that way you are bound to have a few females. Messing with the biochem, though interesting, just seems not right. Which sounds weird coming from me.

It is specualted that when you provide your seeds with more than 4" of vertical pot space to sprout into and root you have a get a better chance of that seed being female ... also, there is specualtion that if you provide a higher amount of the right kind of UV light that you again increase your chances of getting a female .... This doesn't apply to hydro only dirt farmers .... I believe this has to do with pot size I as I said this is just speculation and no hard scientific evidence ... I do this as a general practice and I usually have a higher number of female than males but not every single time ... Another item , if you keep the night time temps with 10 degrees of the daytiem temp you also increase your chance for beign female, Also I think there was somethign else about the temp of the roots as well that got ties into the M/F ratio thing ..... But as aforementioned, these are not scientific facts but more conjecture ..... LB

![]() | Having a large pot will allow the "tap root" of your plant to have lots of toom to grow down. It is thought that allowing the tap root to have lots of room increases the chance of the plant to be female. Just like that ![]() mr g ![]() Or like lb said..... ![]()

![]() | hate to get invovled in an off-topic thing, but marijuana has a taproot. As a general rule (though there are exceptions) most dicots have taproots, whereas most monocots (grasses) has fibrous root systems. Although in hydro, I have to say the MJ grows a pretty fibrous root system, but it is the developmental bio that determines it, and the root grows in the same manner as the shoot. ![]()
