Question Rating strain odor on a scale of 0-10
permalink

I have no doubt this question's been asked and answered before, but I figure it doesn't hurt to add to the knowledge base.

Odor control is a huge problem for the inside grower. The skunkier your strain is, the harder time you have masking or eliminating the odor of fresh marijuana.

How do you rate the odor of the strains you have knowledge of on a scale of 0-10, where 0 equals no smell and 10 is for that skunkweed you can smell from 100' away?

Great idea starting this thread
Im growing bubblegum and im day 10 in flower, they have pistils popping out everywhere. The smell began leaving the box in about week 3-4 of veg, it hasnt really gotten any worse.
So at the moment i give it a 6/10, it sneaks through 4 layers of carbon filter sheet. So i use insense to hide it

Peace guys

Isis holds its smell close to itself
permalink

Our 2 Isis plants, a feminized form of Haze, don't have an odor that carries out of the space they are in, even though they are 37" tall and in full flower.

In fact, to smell that smell we all like to smell, I have to get my face right up into the plant!

So I'd rate Isis as 0 to 1 on the smell scale.

Hi. Id say Afghani is a candidate for hardcore stankyness. If it smells like that in the bag i can only imagine what it would smell like growing. A 10+ as far as im concerned. A lot of Indica types put out some funky aromas. im growing indica predominants and the only way i can describe the smell is a mix of Funky gym shorts mixed in with some fresh cut basil.

i hear a lot of sativas put out a citrucy smell or fruity smells. I wouldnt know though since i never grew a pure sativa.

Putting a numeral on it is hard since i never had a mj grow b4 my current grow, but id say Indicas are up there, 7+.

My girls are at 39 days in veg, and at this point I'd say they'd probably be a 4 on the reek-o-meter. I like to leave the door open during the day, and if I have cross ventilation its isn't bad at all, almost negligible, but if the windows are all closed I can smell it from the bottom of the stairs. It sure isn't "Funky gym shorts mixed in with some fresh cut basil", but I have flowering to look forward to and have no idea how they'll rate then.

I've heard from a few others that Isis is a low odor producing plant.

They're very mature, so if you jostle them around *poof* out comes a bit of odor. I'm glad of it, too! Always loved the smell of fresh sensi, and it don't get fresher!

We had our challenges growing Isis. We've been told that it is the "easiest Haze strain to grow", which means "not quite as difficult as Haze", not "easy to grow". Maybe not the best for a beginner, but them plump, sweet sativa colas and main branches make it worth it!

It is probably best to start them in something bland, then move the seedlings into a pot with Fox Farm's potting mix. I say this because it seems like Isis gets nute burn easily.
