![]() | Good day my bretheren! I have a question for you. I'm trying to verify my own observations and see if anyone else can concur. I have grown Blue Apollo and BB and I have been using the seedlings's stem color as a preliminary determination of females. Even the grow reports from the breeder say "The females have blue/purple stems particularly in the seedlings and the leaves or buds also tend to turn a bluish shade at the finish." I have still been sexing my plants grown from seeds but so far ( I have grown maybe 60-100 seeds of BB or BA) they have all been right on, minus 1 or 2 hermies. The seedlings that actually have the purp.blue colors turn out to be the Females. Can anyone comfirm this? I would love to skip the sexing step and move right into the growing for a mom. Right now out of 6 plants only 1 has a white stem (1 is not tall enough yet to tell). ![]() ![]() Please help a brother out and we may be able to use this as a guide for this strain! Just think how cool itwould be to have at least a few strains that will announce their sex as soon as they show! Peace

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | heya GuruJ ![]() im growing some blueberry, myself. i germinated them april 1, and completed sexing just a few days ago. they all (9 seeds) had purple stems, and one was a male. they are 6-9 inches tall now, i have already taken cuttings off them a few days ago. i dunno, but it took just about 4wks to complete this part of the process.

![]() | was the one male whiter then the others as a seedling? They all turn purple but in the begining they are either purp or white.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You just need to veg and sex as you would any other strain. The stem colors had no indication of sex whatsoever for me. Ended up with both males and females with Blueberry so just do it as you would any other strain. I have DJ Short's and all seedling stems were perp and ratio was about half n half on the males and females. Don't know who told you stem color had anything to do with the sex of the plant but I wouldn't buy it. Good luck on your grow and hope you get a nice mum.

![]() | Thanks for the info. DJ Short was the person that told me about the stem trait. It was also in his seed info as well as Joey Weed. From Dj Short ""The females have blue/purple stems particularly in the seedlings and the leaves or buds also tend to turn a bluish shade at the finish." So in the first few days of being a seedling you did or didn't see a corelation? I know after a week they all turn colors but the first 3-5 days of being a seedling is what I'm talking about. Peace

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | All mine looked identical so no correlation for me. DJ does know his stuff when it comes to MJ but I saw no difference and had to just veg and sex as usual to determine who was who. Did you get his or Joey's? I've had my Blueberry mom for over 3 years and it is always in my top 5 for smoke. Not the most potent out there, but it is pretty up there, but the taste and 50/50 buzz make it one of the most pleasureable buds you can ever smoke. You'll love it!

![]() | Thanks Saxman! Thats what I needed. So far I have marked the one which (by my theory) should be male. We will see as I will have to sex them, as much as I don't want to. The beans I have right now are Blue Apollo from Joey Weed. In my top 3 of strains to smoke & grow. The Apollo 11 in this mix makes it super potent! The BB gives it a great taste and easy to grow. So far I have never lost 1 Blue Apollo during a grow (once I should have lost them all but they survived). I have heard that both Joey & DJ Short have new BB seeds. They both have grown some out for better traits, I think within the last 3 years. You many wanna try a newer bean from Short as it might suprise you. Thanks again for helping in my little study! Peace

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the tip Guru. I have the perfect Blueberry pheno now and wouldn't trade it for anything. I've quit growing it for a while now so I can have room for other strains but momma is doing just fine ![]() I've been fortunate enough over the course of the last year and half to get in with some "elite" clone only strain holders so have many, many good strains to try before I can or would order beans, especially in light of the recent issues with seed aquisition. So much kind, so little time and room ![]()
